Hopson

Made a couple bad passes early in the game that led to turnovers... but I think he more than made up for it.

Now if we could just see this Hopson more often.

great game for scottie..maybe this helps him and we see more of this...and will someone help his fts. those airballs are crazy

Player of the game. His success tonight was partly due to Pearl taking him aside during the week and telling him "Don't worry about the misses. If your are open, let it fly." Sometimes empowerment works.

Hopson was really good , now he needs to be consistent , and if i'm not mistaken CBP brought Maze off the bench , which was a good move . They played like the team that beat Georgetown !:good!:

.....don't forget, we beat the #1 in that league, too!!

I'll go ahead and get this on the record. Hospon is a mentally weak player who will never, ever remotely live up to the ridiculous hype that surrounded his arrival. At best, he's going to be a 14 point a game guy on one end and a liabilty on the other.

Mentally weak?! Did you notice he's a freaking freshman Hat? The guy's body may have matured, but his mind clearly hasn't (as is the case with most 18-19 year old males). I know you've been at this a long time, but surely you have seen people improve and develop over the years? A "mindset" is something that can grow, develop, and change over time. Give the guy a year or two before writing his future. Just b/c he's not going to be 1 and done like everyone thought doesn't mean he's going to be a terrible player.

No one that knew what they were talking about thought this kid could be 1 and done.

Fair enough...but there's no denying that there was a CONSIDERABLE amount of discussion about him being one and done. I remember seeing all kinds of posts during the Rocky Top League saying that Hopson had "one and done" talent. I live near Louisville (a place where the fans really know their bball) and there was extensive talk about Hopson being one and done on many of the local radio shows. Now once we saw him play in a Vols uniform...completely different story.

Perhaps my initial statement was poorly worded. Maybe I should have just said "Just because Hopson hasn't lived up to expectations..." I wasn't trying to start anything else, just trying to show Scotty hasn't been what we expected, but that doesn't mean we can just write him off completely.

I think this is right. This team has appeared gun-shy at times.

scotty actually does read these blogs...pearl actually told him to quite reading these and just build his confidence in the gym...i am pretty sure in a year or two well be talking about how amazing hospon is lets just be positive that we still have a shot at sec championship

He's a freshman lay off...4 nights ago he was on fire. Do you really expect him to play well every night?

Just messin'... and it's a good thing that he didn't do anything really bad that would be remembered.
