How many times has Tennessee brought the ball down the court in that situation, then not called a time out, then won? Maybe they should try something different.

Goins is clearly the better PG of the two. Maze got himself into trouble unnecessarily and everyone in the gym knew what side of the court he was going to

With 17 seconds, you should be able to come up with a higher percentage shot than Chism for three. Especially down 1.

Blame that on Maze. Chism did the right thing. It was still a better look than 80% of other possibilities. And it was a lot better than what we get at crunch time last year where we're throwing up a 1-handed three from 30-feet out with a hand in our face.

Pearl put in PERFECT position to win and of course...Weezy for 3.

Really? Having used up all your timeouts and having no better play called than to have your center heave up a three when you only need two to win is putting the team in "PERFECT position to win"?

it looked like we ran the same play we would've ran if the purdue player would have hit his freethrows. Unbelievable

I do too but I think a 3 that late in the game is so stupid. He had space, he couldn't went straight to the hole or pulled up for a quick jumper. He missed it badly.

Simple statistics says it's more probable a shot goes in from below 15 ft than above it. He had the time to drive in.

He was wide open, he can hit that shot, why wouldn't he take it?

Are you kidding me? With 7sec left, only down by 1, it doesn't matter how open you are, you attack the damn basket!!! The chance of making a layup or getting 2 free throws >>> taking an open look 3!!! On top of that, he is NOT a shooter!!! Do you math, please!!! I am mad.

Face it, Tennessee was lucky even to have a chance to win this game. Hopson, Prince, Tatum were no factors tonight and the Vols are not going to win many with them not being factors.

I didn't fault Chism for taking the open shot. I think it's pretty poor that it's the only look the Vols could come up with though.

Agreed . . . We should have gotten a much better look, but after Maze dribbled around for 10 seconds, Chism shooting a wide open 2 wasn't a half bad result.

I'll take a wide open look from three by a more than capable 3-point shooter rather than a contested floater by Maze/Hopson/Tatum/etc. Only better position there was to let Tyler do his thing.

I dont think the coach said to them "ok, we're down 1, take a 3 pointer if you get it"

that's normal chism honestly. if he gets left open outside of the arc he tries to take the shot.

sure he makes 1-2 a game....but he does take that deep shot a bit too much

I agree. Sounds like they didn't try to change it up at all. We were not aggressive enough in the 2nd half.
