Horrible coaching at end of purdue game

With 17 seconds, you should be able to come up with a higher percentage shot than Chism for three. Especially down 1.

Exactly. Especially when nobody was in front of him. Like someone said above, you take a couple steps forward to the FT line and pull it, or drive all the way.

The shot was there for WC. Tatum had an open a look a couple possession before that. They just wouldn't fall. This was a tough lose after leading most of the game.

It is amazing how the best team won tonight. Pearl does not teach his team to play BB on the inside and Purdue just made them play from the perimeter. This team also is lacking in discipline. Purdue beat Pearl at his own game with less talent.

hopson played tentative. Tatum didn't play great but he gave alot of effort. Chism deserved to take that shot. For 4 years he has been a clutch performer

I dont think the coach said to them "ok, we're down 1, take a 3 pointer if you get it"

that's normal chism honestly. if he gets left open outside of the arc he tries to take the shot.

sure he makes 1-2 a game....but he does take that deep shot a bit too much

I think that was a called play at the end.

I'm just upset, we did everything we could today to lose the game...

Did we do everything we could to win the game.....probably not.. But Purdue is a really good basketball team. We lucked out by fouling out one of their best players. Kramer reminds me of Dane Bradshaw and Hummel has the same will that Tyler Smith does. No one runs the table in basketball, yes it has happened before but it will be a cold day downstairs before it probably happens again. losses come but this shows we can probably play with anybody!

No way we should have lost this game. They are a good team but we are just wild and inconsistent. I think pearl can recruit but sucks at coaching. I always have.

Bad shot selection... when Purdue missed the FTs, I was thinking great now we just pound it inside for a close shot and/or foul. Then, a 3 gets jacked. :( I know I would have been going crazy if he hit it, but WHY if you don't need it???

me too! :cray:

An wide open shot by a guy that has proven he can shoot...that was a well drawn up play. Our players just didn't execute. I don't want to hear any bashing of Pearl for that play.

It's irrelevant anyway - if our team knew how to communicate or complete simple passes we would have won by 10 points.

Face it, Tennessee was lucky even to have a chance to win this game. Hopson, Prince, Tatum were no factors tonight and the Vols are not going to win many with them not being factors.

exactly. it was chism/smith v. purdue. the rest of the team brought a C-/D game.

Damn, but this is going to be a good team. I'll take Chism making that shot more than he misses it. Sure hurts now but Purdue isn't going to lose many games. Can't wait for the rest of the season.

This was the story from last year. Tennessee is just not that consistant when it comes to shooting outside. That will still hurt the Vols thru out the season
