House of the Dragon

Yeah, I guess I'm just not that interested.
I think part of the problem is the series is based a very intense book series, so it probably makes more sense for people who have read the books. Which I haven't.

It's probably a lot like Dune. If you've read all of the Dune books, then the movies make way more sense because they are just a snippet of the entire fiction universe.

I can see that. I was enjoying it better when I started over and was able to watch 8 episodes 1 after the other without waiting a week for the next. Easier for me to remember names that way.

This season has been disappointing IMO. Way WAY too many scenes of boring exposition and poor Daemon, he was the coolest character in season 1 and now he's been relegated to wandering around in a dilapidated castle, having weird acid trips.

Also, and believe me, I'm not prudish at all, but I'm kind of sick of the gratuitousness. How is some of this stuff not categorized as straight up porn?? We get it!! Brothels existed in this universe and lots of people partook! But must we see it over and over again??

The House of the Dragon show is just based on about 6-7 chapters in the Fire & Blood book.

Seems like this could be a longer miniseries or 2 shortish seasons of around 16 episodes vs what’ll probably end up being 4 seasons of around 32 episodes. Too much time waiting on things to happen and the dialogue isn’t there to fill the void.

I’ll still watch all of it tho lol.

Yeah I've found myself bored during the past several episodes. I'm sure they are setting something up, but I don't imagine the viewership is great. Lots of dialogue without much substance, not many characters you are really fighting for, and gratuitous dragon stuff.

I'll still watch, but it's no GOT, to this point

My wife said the problem with this show, when compared to GOT, is there's no one you particularly love to root for and there's no one you particularly hate.

I don't know. I think Aegon is setting up to be a real *******.

And at this point I don't like Sir Cristin Cole much at all. He turned into a douche

Maybe, but up to this point, I don't hate either nearly as much as I hated Cersei Lannister, Joffrey Baratheon, or Ramsay Bolton.
Agreed. Part of the problem is Aegon doesn't talk at all. He seems like he has some internal pent up aggression though.

I don't think it's been boring at all. Pretty good IMO
For me, most of each episode feels like an endless barrage of exposition! Just scene after scene after scene of people standing or sitting in rooms talking! I keep hoping all of this is being done deliberately to set up something awesome, but so far there's been no big payoff. I hope episode 8 is worth it.

I will say though...

Episode 7 was pretty damn cool with the dragons and trying to find anyone who is Valyrian born! That was the best part of the whole season so far for me! I kept wondering if that big Viking looking guy was going to be somebody special!

A lot of the time, Game of Thrones was the same way.

Meh.

Feels like in the glory days of Thrones, that would have been episode 8 of a 10 episode season.

9 would have been the battle with some crazy deaths and twists.

10 would have been the aftermath and the look-ahead.

Whole season was a buffet of cliffhangers.

Think it’s funny how all the GOT fans thought that was Daenerys in Daemon’s vision. Show watchers saying she’s the Prince that was Promised is hilarious.

Daemon had a vision, saw the white walkers, and a random girl with white hair. Right after that, he goes and declares Rhaenyra his queen. I’m pretty sure he thought he saw Rhaenyra in that vision, not Daenerys like most think. Would explain why he said “darkness is coming” he thinks it’s coming sooner, not later.
