No, if he was maybe they could beat Florida finally :)

That's weak BTO. Especially after Martin got swept by UF this year. You were all for giving Martin a pass for missing the post season his first couple of years.

1. Butch has made it to the post season before and won conference championships.

2. Has signed at top 5 recruiting class. CCM hasn't even been close.

3. Butch actually bleeds orange and you can tell, the same can't be said about CCM.

So don't be a hypocrite and say that Martin was left with nothing and then bash the football team when Butch was left with with pretty much zero talent (with the exception of the offensive line.)

If you've missed my posts about the football team then ok...

This was sarcasm, thus the smiley face. Throw out recruiting for a minute and Butch did less on the field in year 1 than coach Martin did in year 1. Now add in the recruiting and I get the excitement, I just don't get this "he's the next bear Bryant" attitude many posters have about him.

It's like paging posted in another thread, maybe it's all fanbases, but we seem to do it bad. We overhype everything, every year. When it doesn't pan out, find an excuse, when that doesn't work, find another. When that doesn't work, start over saying we'll get em' next year. My point being, do I think Butch will have success? Yes. Has he done anything on the field yet to make me feel greatly confident that he's gonna be the greatest coach in Tennessee history like I've seen some suggest? Hell no.

Go look at the seasons predictions thread from preseason last year if you need evidence of what I'm talking about, and it'll be the same this season.

My sarcasm meter is running behind this morning lol. But I know what you mean. There were 8-4 and 9-3 predictions last year. But people also didn't realize how well Auburn and Mizzou was going to be so most were counting those as wins. Still regardless as fans we alway set expectations way too high. Like this years basketball team. I thought they'd be top 25 all year and be a 4-6 seed in the tourney. I think those were reasonable expectations though. Just like last years football team I said 6-6 was reasonable and didn't think we should have lost to Vandy.

My exact expeditions last year too, 6-6 and don't lose to UK or VU. The fact we went 5-7 and lost to VU definitely causes some hesitation on my part before fully jumping on the Butch train.

Which is funny as we played the QB all the message board coaches were calling for early in the year lol

I won't act like I didn't call for a different one but so far all of them are just par. Till we get a good one we will be like last yr. nothing against the coaches but that's just how it is. I expect 5-7 to 6-6 next yr.

If we don't have a QB on the roster who can be successful that's the coaches fault for 1. Not adding another one this year 2. Not developing the ones they've got on campus

For 1 when it's yr one it's not really their fault. They inherited it. 2 I agree with you but if you expect a Fr qb to ball out the first yr that's funny. Doesn't happen a lot. There are the exceptions though.

I'm talking about moving forward.

If we don't currently have a QB on campus that can be successful that's on the coaches, no??

Give Ferguson and Dobbs a chance guys one is a true sophomore and the other is a RS freshman. One of those two will step up.

Going forward I will def agree with you. I thought you meant yr one. Sorry. Agreed. Defense can't really carry a team. If a qb we have can't so better this yr even though they have a brand new ol then we probably will be in trouble.

Proven in the sec? Not so much.

Just stop with your negative posts all the time dude. Butch beat USCjr something Dooley never did. He beat a ranked opponent again something Dooley never done. He took UGA to the wire in OT. With the depth and talent level he had on team 117 I think he proved quite a bit. But I can see where "fans" like yourself can't see the good in that.

I've watched Georgia a few times. From what I've seen, they are decent at home and horrible on the road. Mann has the potential to score a ton but besides him and maybe Gaines, they aren't very good. They don't have much quality depth and this is a type of game I'd love to see Martin push the pace. I think we win by 15.

We can tell how cautious you are on choosing who you support by the decision to support the current basketball coach. Claiming that you reserve yourself to jump on the butch train based on results so far makes your supporting of cuonzo completely asinine. He has yielded no results that are worthy of supporting.

And why worry about Georgia? I'd much rather be more concerned with the biggest game left on our schedule IMO. We need this next one super bad.

No, he is leading you on. In a subtle way, he is trying to show you how fans choose sides and are somewhat hypocritical with their views from one coach to the next. Do I believe it? Not necessarily. But that is his point.

I did write something before about the ironic similarities between Jones' first year and Martin's first year. But, I do like Jones and believe that he will succeed at UT.

0-1 vs Vandy in year 3...check.

0 NCAA bids in 2 years and heading for 3....check

Oh and for butch...

Top 5 recruiting class after year one...check

Don't let your jealousy be so obvious. The football program hired a coach that is making progress and the basketball program made a mistake.

The two MO games could be tough. We should win the other games but as long as Martin is coach I am worried about all the remaining games.
