Outside of UK and UF, the top half of the SEC is up for grabs. Several different scenarios could happen, but what would be best for us? Here are the SEC standings as of 2/15:
Kentucky.................12-0, 26-1
Florida......................9-3, 21-6
Vanderbilt.................7-4, 18-8
Miss. State................6-6, 19-8
Alabama...................6-6, 17-9
LSU.........................6-6, 16-10
Tennessee................6-6, 14-13
Arkansas..................5-7, 17-10
Ole Miss...................5-7, 15-11
(the rest don't really matter)

2/19 Vandy is playing at UGA today. We could really use a UGA win.

On Tuesday, it's:
UK @ Miss. St.
Auburn @ UF

Still not sure how to cheer for/against UF...

Lol Ole Miss isn't beating Vandy. Vanderbilt is a lot better than most people on here give them credit for. Their only bad loss was to Indiana State

I say we should root for Florida, I am fine with the 3 seed. We would see Florida in the semi finals. We do not want the 4 to have to deal with Kentucky.

With all the players they had coming back they should have been a lot better.

Our RPI is helped by East teams beating West teams. Our quality wins are helped by Florida winning. Our ideal tournament scenario is to have 1-2-3 be Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee (or UK, UT, UF) and have Vandy finish 4th or 5th. Beyond that, whatever.

They lost to Cleveland State at home too.

They might be better than some are giving them credit for, but to Ole Miss isn't going to beat them is crazy. You might be right, but it's not as given as you think.

Our ideal tournament scenario would be for us to be the #2 seed, which if we win out, is likely

We also most likely want the other bubble SEC teams to lose...so IMO that would include Ole Miss, Miss St., LSU, Bama, and Ark.

We want to be in the clear top 4/5 of the SEC.

Cleveland State is a decent team, and they played them without Festus Ezeli, who could be a first round pick this year. I just think people should look at the actual team rather than just writing off Vanderbilt because they play "at our house".

Yeah, but #2 and #3 aren't that much different. But if we're one and Florida is the other, that'd be huge.

Which bracket would you rather be in (teams 5-7 filled out hypothetically based on current standings)

Florida/Alabama
vs Tennessee/Ole Miss

Vandy/Mississippi State
vs Kentucky

I say, the simplest solution would be for everyone except us to lose out and we win out. If that means that teams play until utter exhaustion and settle for a tie, then fine. We win. NCAA tourney here we come!! :) JMO, TIFWIW. :hi:

Outside of UK and UF, the top half of the SEC is up for grabs. Several different scenarios could happen, but what would be best for us? Here are the SEC standings as of 2/15:
Kentucky.................11-0, 25-1
Florida......................8-3, 20-6
Vanderbilt.................6-4, 17-8
Miss. State................6-5, 19-7
Tennessee.................6-5, 14-12
Ole Miss....................5-5, 15-9
Arkansas...................5-6, 17-9
Alabama....................5-6, 16-9
LSU..........................5-6, 15-10
(the rest don't really matter)

Here's one scenario (SEC match-ups Thusday, 2/16):
Vandy (6-4)
Ole Miss (5-6)
Ole Miss beats Vandy at home tonight, and those two teams join us at 6-5 to create a 4-way tie for 3rd place along with Miss. State.
If Vandy wins, they probably clinch 3rd place and we are a game behind in a tie for 4th with Miss. State.

I will update this OP as the next round of SEC games happen, but as for now, we are cheering for Ole Miss, right?

I have been trying to decide how to look at Florida. Do we want them to win and help weaken other SEC teams' records, or do we want them to lose so we have a better chance to get ahead of them? Also, consider our RPI as UF's play will probably affect it.

There are so many different things that could happen, so feel free to voice what you think would be best. This season has been a roller coaster, and I've really been enjoying it. GO VOLS!!

if vandy wins tonight i wouldnt say they locked up 3rd place, they still have to go to rupp, and florida has to go there so they could potentially lose those 1 of those and if we beat them too they would have 6 losses and we'd have 5 losses. FWIW

best case is for us to keep winning and either finish 2 or 3, putting us on the opposite side as KY. right now if we were the 2 seed these would be our matchups:

rd 1-bye
rd 2-Arkansas/Auburn winner
rd 3- Vanderbilt/Ole Miss/ UGA winner

ideally we would like vandy to finish 4th to put them with UK, and for us and uf to finish 2 and 3.

Oh wow, I think Vandy was the only schedule I didn't look at. I didn't realize they still have to play UK and UF. That just makes it more interesting, wow. You're right, Vandy would certainly not be a lock for 3rd.

My hopes are UT and UK win out. Florida wins all of them but to UK and @Vandy and Vandy wins them all but UK and UT. That would make

UK 16-0
UT 11-5
UF 11-5
Van 10-6

We get the tie breaker and 2nd seed. 4 SEC East teams with 10 wins helps lift UT's RPI and UT avoids UK till SECt championship game.

As do I. But it'll be Cal. You know this already.

Not so sure, think about it.

KY picked to finish 1st in the SEC and does
Vols picked to finish 11th in SEC and finish 2nd....
Who would you vote for?

I think he's saying that he would give Martin COY if that happened, but he's pretty sure that it's not going to.

Yeah I know. I was just making a point about which coach would have achieved more. THe media loves KY and Cal so CCM winning would be a huge upset.

BINGO! very well said, this would be the perfect scenario, and i think even 1 win in sec t would get us in the tournament.

I think this is the best scenario also.
Need to pull for the boys in blue. Hate to say that but them winning out helps us if we win out.
