How do we win in Afghanistan?

Double Kabul suicide attack kills at least 25

KABUL, Afghanistan – A coordinated double suicide bombing by the Islamic State group hit central Kabul on Monday morning, killing at least 25 people, including eight journalists, officials said. An AFP photographer and a cameraman for a local TV station were among the fatalities, the police said.

At least 45 people were wounded in the twin attacks, according to Kabul police spokesman, Hashmat Stanekzai, who also said four policemen were among those killed.

Keep up the good fight Carlos. Give those extremists all the lead based "freedom" the ROE allows, and then some if necessary. Hope you guys are there to train and advise, not in the line of fire. Want everybody to come home safe. Thank you for your service, God keep you and yours.

Yea my unit isn't here to train and advise. We only fall under RS because we work with NATO and Georgian Forces. We actually go out looking for the Taliban.

No i guess it is correct. Next time someone needs help from oppression, we should let them know that we dont 'invade' soveriegn nations, and they can take it up with their oppressors. And have a nice day.

This should have been our foreign policy from the very beginning.

Used to be

2 places in the world where poppies grow well..afghanistan and mexico. Watched 60 min documentary showimg the mexican cartels flying in the chemists through colombia, to show them how to refine opium in to its powdered form, diacetylmorphine..commonly known as "china" or "china white".

The cartels seized on our epidemic of controlled opiate addiction, and now import ton after ton of a powder far more expensive than cocaine in the US, twice as expensive actually at around 120,000 US a kilo. Some black tar heroin still comes in unrefined through California, but the vast majority is China white. Enter the chinese, who manufacture fentanyl, a chemical 50 to 100x as strong as pure uncut heroin, and dealers start adding a couple of drops to their supply to get more bang for the buck. Then they can cut their stuff by 50% or more and double their riches.

Problem is, these guys arent chemists. So they dont achieve homogenous mixtures that are the same throughout...ending up with "hot spots" in their dope. Which have a high concentration of fentanyl. This is why 140 people A DAY OVERDOSE in the US alone. 68,000 people last year died here from opiates. More than we lost in the entire Viet Nam war.

Speaking as a man who became addicted to pain pills after 5 years and 2 spine surgeries, i believe in personal accountability. Mine. And everyone elses. I also know for sure that Big Pharma knew they were pushing this crap on the public, and knew it was the single mosr addictive crap on earth.

Also the US govt passed legislation in 2001 calling pain "the 5th vital sign" and our govt, along with the medical community, decided that they were going to treat pain more aggressively. Pain pills for everyone. Nobody hurts. Ever. Bet you never hear about that part though?

All we ever hear is about these worthless addicts and junkies...destroying America because they are sick and weak. Forget about the fact that the govt, big Pharm and their lobbies, and the medical community wrote enough prescriptions fpr opiates EVERY SINGLE YEAR from about 2000 to 2015 for all 330 million americans to have a 90 day supply of vicodin or percocet. Amazing.

Damn near cost me my family and everything that matters to me. Question your doctors. Dont take pills just because they gave them to you. I never doctor shopped, never went to a pill mill...nothing. went from my primary, to a neurologist and surgeon. Did everything they ever told me to. Spine injections, PT, surgeries, spinal fusion.

If i listened to them, i would still be in some pain management facility...taking a piss test every 2 weeks and strung out on pain meds for the rest of my life. I chose to be in pain, and save my family and life.

There are crooks everywhere.
But wait! They sell a cure too! For the low price of a grand a day, you and your well meaning loved ones can find you a nice rehab. Stay as long as you have the money for it.
But wait maybe your tax dollars wonna get in on this too by being used to fund your arrest and entry into a for profit prison industry and system that makes money off of you being locked up in it.

What about the one's that offer safe havens to terrorists groups that kill 3500 people, mostly civilians on American soil?
What you do then is have Congress declare war against Saudi Arabia... not spend 18 years on an unconstitutional nation building exclusion in Afghanistan.

We're the training camps in Saudi Arabia? Was Bin Laden in Saudi Arabia? The attacks were carried out and orchestrated from Afghanistan.

The Madrassas were some of the training camps, if not militarily training them but mentally radicalizing them. All funded by The Saudis over multiple countries in the Muslim world and in The West.

Was Bin Laden in Saudi Arabia? That is a nonissue. 15 of the hijackers were Saudis that were on those planes. And besides that, your opening post today clearly stated "that offer safe havens to terrorists groups". That fits the bill for Saudi Arabia actually far better than even Saddam and Iraq.

And lastly, the attacks were orchestrated and coordinated in the US and Saudi Arabia at the very least. Not in some caves in the Hindu Kush Mts...

Is what I'm saying even open for debate anymore? Are there people still out here defending going into Afghanistan over Saudi Arabia?

In that case in 1942 why didn't we go straight to and invade the island of Japan instead of attacking a little island like Guadalcanal or our first time in the sandbox with our invasion of Morocco and Algeria after all they are long way from the Pacific.

Japan was who attacked us not Moroccans or Algerians.

Shouldn't have gone into either. Neither country was directly responsible for the actions of a select few that were from there, stayed there, or trained there. If it can be demonstrated that either government funded and directed the 9/11 attack, then you have just cause, which should lead fo a declaration of war.

I'm not arguing the Saudi connection to 9/11. The terrorist that were actually responsible were based in Afghanistan. I'm not sure why you're having trouble with this. Bin Laden was responsible for the planning and funding of the 9/11 attacks. Bin Laden was in Afghanistan.

The only reason we know any of this is because fortunately in all that fire their passports didn’t burn up and were neatly on the ground.
