So far, Trump has a pretty good speech. Scripted of course...
Not only that, but basically said we would turn to India to help out. That's not only poking Pakistan in the eye, but using a piece of rock salt to do it.
Good speech, of course the pundits are already saying "well, how?!?!?!?!?!"
I missed the speech, but that's a legitimate question. It's a quagmire. There is no success there.
What is the definition of winning and criteria that we leave? Ever?
Not an anti Trump question. Not a GOP or Dem issue. Just endless.
A legitimate question that he seems to be leaving up to Mattis and other experts on how to conduct. As for the criteria we use to leave, he made mention it was conditionally based instead of time based. As to what conditions, my guess is the Pentagon will release that or it's still being formulated.
I wouldn't suggest you watch the speech. Not enough screech worthy moments for you.
The other day, I made the comment he was punting the decision on Afghanistan like the other two Presidents had. I have to say, I could be very wrong on that comment. Time will tell.
What you described sounds like punting to me.
We made the same mistake in Iraq with setting a timetable on the withdrawal. The insurgent groups over there just waited us out before coming out in force after we left.
Why don't we wait a few days for more detailed information before deciding it's a punt. That'd be kind of nice for a change since it worked with North Korea.
Just stop, please.
There is no reason for you to act like a damn child right now. Even Obama didn't ever discuss specifics on what he was going to do. So, please STFU for a change.
Ok.
From what you are saying, trump basically said it sucks. What we've done hasn't worked. We will send some more troops. We will have some conditions.
We don't know what they are yet.
This is not anti Trump. This is me saying fine, if you want to say we will have a b c goals in order to leave. But we need to know the goals.
Sounds to me like he punted on the issue of what the goals are. Which is the key.
Then what was the point of the speech?!?!?!?
Come on, don't make it partisan. Just WTF does "enduring outcome" or whatever mean? Real results? What results.
What you are telling me is that he said nothing of any substance.
