Glad we are playing them later this season. The more reps our freshman get the better. If we can't beat "Dooley 2.0" early....then will beat him later.

If Butch can't beat Dooley 2.0 then why did UT get rid of Dooley 1.0?

Beating Dooley's equivalent should not be the goal.

I didn't mind the early game vs UF. We lost too many of them and it really sucked in the 90's when our 10-1 season meant a Citrus Bowl. I don't think it matters when we play them. Over the last ten years the outcome has been as predictable as the sunrise.

It will be good for us, If we had played them later in the year during CPF's tenure he would have won a lot more against them. His teams where always better at the end of the year then they where at the beginning.

I think that's a bit of a stretch because UT's schedule typically got much easier as the season went on. There were a lot of good UT that struggled with Vandy and or UK.

Auburn was the 'traditional' first SEC game for years before the split. Didn't like playing them first either.
We fared much better against them than we ever have with Florida. We wouldn't have gotten nearly the exposure in 1985 if we had beaten them later in the year, as they turned out to not be nearly as good as projected.

It is the goal(for vol fans) come Oct 4th. Speak for yourself.

fla has a big advantage playing UT early in the heat---UT needs to pressure the SEC to get the game moved to october or november when it starts getting cool---UT will start winning more games then

Is it just for this season or will it be every year?

have to think regarding the weather, it helps to have it later in the year.

The amazing headslap by Jonathan Wade on Dallas Baker to get the Vols the ball back with time still left on the clock for Wilhoit to make that kick!

go to 1:05:18 and watch.

Every time someone on here posts one of our old games and points to a particular moment. I end up watching half of the game before I stop. Man, I love watching those.

I always hated playing UF first sec game. They'd play 2 cupcakes then UT for their first real test. We'd usually play 1 cupcake and 1 tough non conference game, then play fla.

it is maybe only a small advantage, but there have been years playing in that heat at Florida in September has given them an advantage

Meh, usually not much difference between playing in Gainesville in September or October. And at any rate this game is in Knoxville. I don't believe the '15 game is set yet.

I just hope IF we beat Florida our fans don't tear down the field goals. It would be different if Florida had been winning championships the last couple of years and not lost to Mississippi gulf Coast community college or whoever that was. And also I hope our fans act with some class leaving the stadium after the win. Florida has whipped our butts for the past 9 years. It would be silly for a VOL to talk smack.

Every year until the conference scheduling format is changed up again in the future (which it inevitably will be).

I disagree. You've earned the right to talk some smack. However, I'd rather see you welcome the renewal of it as a rivalry.

Thing is, and I believe you will win this year, and I really do mean no offense, but I feel like it'd be more welcoming UF to the bottom of the East than celebrating return of the Vol to the top of the East.

The school likely won't let them; the SEC fines schools $25,000 now each time they allow fans to rush the field/court.

I could be wrong, but I think they've been putting security in place near the ends of games to prevent such from happening.

I think this is the new standard rotation. They're not working off of "transition year" scheduling anymore like they were the last two seasons.

It will never happen again in November. I don't think it'd be beneficial for us to have it in October either.

Plus, the SEC is not going to listen to just one school (and we don't carry enough weight in this conference either; ideally none of the schools do).

Can't talk smack to the worst Gator era in a while. Just can't do it. 9 years is a long time. If Florida is smart they will not allow themselves to go through what Tennessee has gone through since 07. I have a bad feeling UF is about to go through some hard times. I've heard that players don't care for Muschamp. Don't know how true that is but....Dooley and Muschamp try to act like Saban without the resume.

this is true.

the last few seasons, we hand off and avoid throwing the football to avoid showing tennessee anything.

then, when we play tennessee, we hand the ball off and avoid throwing the football.

As you know 99, I'm not particularly sanguine on the idea that Tn will ever beat Florida again. Nothing would surprise me after what I've witnessed the last 25 years in this series. I think Florida could just refuse to accept the ball and never send their offense into the game and score enough on special teams and defense to make it 10 wins in a row over Tennessee.

I'm starting to feel more optimistic because florida may yet again have the edge on the line of scrimmage.

however, florida isn't going to be very good and tennessee will be at home.

if tennessee plays the way they did last season at home against south carolina and georgia, the odds are in tennessee's favor.

I'm optimistic about this game, but obviously won't be the least bit shocked if we lose. I think were this game at The Swamp again this year it would be no question that you would win. I hope if we do win, it's a nail biter.

Ok here is my way way out there pic of the year. I think FL goes to Alabama and wins that game. I really believe last year was an anomaly. Their defense is going to be stacked. I think Morrison will healthy at LB and their secondary is crazy good. With both teams trying to figure @#$# out on offense, I can honestly see FL pulling off the upset. Then a week off before us. I'm not thrilled about our chances haha, but as it's been said before any change at this point should be welcomed. But if Butch and the gang do lose to FL, I don't think it's cause to panic, because the gators are talented as hell, despite last year''s record.

PS. If anyone can photoshop Butch and a few players onto Kool and the Gang, that's a t-shirt I'd gladly buy lol.

Why a nail biter? I'd rather win comfortably. It's time for this streak to end before I lose my mind.
