Under two weeks until the game. How do you Vols feel about the Citrus Bowl game at this point?

Tenn has taken a decent roster hit from the portal, especially in the secondary.

Iowa on the other hand has been basically untouched to this point by portal madness and none of the defensive players who are sure-fire NFL picks have opted out for Iowa either.

Still feel that your speed will be too much for Iowa and win the day for UT?

I can’t speak for everyone, of course, but I have little interest in this game. I live in Florida but decided not to go unless Nico (our second team QB) was named the starter.

That would work if I wasn’t on message boards and listening to Knox sports radio 24/7 to see what players we are keeping, losing to portal, draft and getting on signing day. To me, all of those things (and Nico - our future) are tons more important that what Joe can do against a vaunted Iowa defense and what our subpar depleted defense does against a bad Iowa offense.

This makes no sense to me. All of the recruiting, the transfer portal, and the player development stuff -- and the message boards and sports radio that covers it -- exist only because there is an actual program and a team that plays actual games. And we only get just so many games. Isn't what happens on the field the most important thing?

Used to be.
But now the bowl games are just exhibitions and practices for the next season unless you’re in the playoffs.

The bowl games have always been kind of unimportant. At one time, they literally didn't count for anything. But it's still a chance to see your team take the field and get to root for them. Just seems kind of weird to me. But what do I know?

Is Joe playing ? If so we win. He will hit a few deep bombs. Did we ever confirm jabari gone? If so Dylan Sampson should play.

I have no ****n clue lol.

Not really giving it much thought. It's not a popular opinion but unless the bowl is part of the national championship, it's meaningless. It's an exhibition game as far as I am concerned.
I couldn't even tell you who played in the citrus bowl last season.
I'll watch it. And I hope UT does well. Mostly I hope the players who will participate have a great time and come out with no injuries.
