I will always remember him for the silly pass from the endzone against LSU in 05. I started liking him more the last two years tho

I don't think he has the head for the pros. The physically ability maybe, but not the mental. He will have to find an awesome coach to get him ready to play in the NFL. Maybe Peyton can tutor him.

An accurate QB with no speed that was scared to get hit.

Agreed except for the accurate part. Yes, at times he was accurate but there were way too many balls that left me asking who was he throwing too. Also had a lot of passes sail. I can't remember ever seeing a 4 year starter looking so scared of being hit.

Inconsistent, headcase, not a good man in a storm....I agree with it all. I wish him well and say buh buh buh bye.

HOWEVER...I don't know if they keep such a stat but I can't remember another QB having so many drops by the receivers (and maybe a few by defenders).

Anyone else think that maybe EA was victimized more than most by the receivers' poor execution?

He was a decent qb. He had problems with the blitz and didn't throw very accurate on the run. He will have to fix those things to be a good nfl qb.

Hmmm.... you guys are awfully harsh. Ainge was a good QB - not perfect (he was as skiddish as a cat), but generally solid.

Please remember that R Sanders messed his head up....

We could have done much worse - he had weak receivers all year...

The coaches (and O line) did a good job of not putting him in situations where his weaknesses showed. Give Cut credit.

Randy Sanders has nothing to do with it. He was learning under the greatest quarterback coach this generation in David Cutcliffe his last two years on campus.

Don't make Sanders a scapegoat.

Mixed emotions, but overall a good qb who I still think has a shot in the NFL, depends where he goes and who he is under. I don't know if we will ever know really how bad his hand was this year and I think that affected his game more than he would say. He and Clausen were following Peyton and Tee...tough acts to follow and be loved by fans as mistakes will always stand out more so than good points...unless you win one of the big ones, SEC or NC. SEC 07 will haunt him much longer than me, I think I will try to remember the Geo. games and beating Fla.
As I have mentioned before, he reminds me of Trent Green when he was at Indiana...no one thought he was worth a crap, thus he came to IU...but went on to have a some very good years in the NFL. The few Indiana fans you could find thought it hilarious when he was drafted and unbeleivable when he played and did well.
I hope Eric Ainge has a great NFL career and looks back on his UT days as good. I hope next season we are not looking back saying, "Damn I wish Eric had been in there to make that throw."

Solid quarterback who went through transition years at UT.

He was a product of the era UT is currently in.

The "What Could Have Been" era.

Sanders had two years worth to do with it....CDC pulled him back from the abyss to a degree.

Honestly, I don't think Sanders is responsible for much of Ainge's tendency to be inconsistent under pressure....but I don't think Sanders' tutelage helped very much either.

Hmmm... then explaine how Sanders was able to get two freshmen on the field in 2004 or how he was able to make Woodson a decent SEC QB.
