How does Meyer stepping down effect UT recruiting?

I don't think it will change how Dooley recruits.... as he has said for over a year, "He has a process" and I think he will continue to do what he has done.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Mullen introduced soon as their next Head coach and we will see their recruits, as well as freshmen settle down

These are the damn fools that started the Big Fish rumor last year.

Are you old enough to know Floridas football past?

Florida has only been relevant the last 2 decades

So why is Herbstreit on ESPN calling Florida one of the premier jobs in the country that "every coach in college football" is thinking about right now? I'm with you though, UT/Bama would be the premier jobs in the SEC. And they're talking about Bob Stoops as a candidate also.

because the team is already stacked with talent, its in a nice, warm part of the country, and its in a state and region that is home to an enormous amount of top college talent. Tradition has nothing to do with any of that.

True and if you think about it, recruits are 18 years old...weren't alive when FL was irrelevant. They just see what's been going on for the last 5 years or so since they stopped playing with toys and started focusing on sports and girls.

How will this affect UT's recruiting? Are there any UF commits we can snag? Or are there any recruits we were in a UF battle for??

Raid Florida.:loco:

It probably won't have a dramatic effect. UT has to get better... not depend on UF or others to get worse.

It might help in recruiting here or there this year. There will be some player defections and especially if the whole staff is cut. I would expect UF's first calls to be to Strong and Mullen. That would minimize if not eliminate player defections. They would also have instant credibility with recruits in FL.

It's too late, fulmer's already working like heck in Florida. Recruits aren't going anywhere....per Billy C.

i got a question too and don't think i should start a new thread just to ask it. but will the NCAA let their juniors and seniors transfer next like they did USC and not make them sit out?

no way jose. They only did that for usc because of no bowl games. A simple coaching change isn't gonna cut it IMO. If some of them was coming here though, i'd say hell yeah..let em. Oh wait nevermind, they'd all be in jail in a week or two.

Not much. I think Dan Mullen steps right in and nothing changes. Unfortunately, Florida is still Florida and there will not be a big change in style or staff.

Mullen is the most probable candidate for the job. He is a good coach, if it happens, the fans of Miss State will likely feel much like UT fans when Kiffin left. Don't count out Chris Peterson at Boise. Florida has great schools for learning impaired children, which he has said in the past why he wouldn't consider leaving Boise. Think Florida AD will go for what helped them win 2 national titles in Mullen.

A)Herbstreit is a moron.
B)Stoops has already shot them down in the past when they tried to get him. Even premier jobs get turned down by coaches; that is why Bama had so many issues finding a great HC.

Yeah... I don't think that's it.

I'm a long-time reader but don't have enough posts apparently to start a thread...

Well I sat next to CDH on a flight last night from ATL to Knox. What a nice guy. He was coming from Orlando, where he said he spent the weekend visiting recruits. We chatted about the Meyer resignation and he was like, "yeah, that's crazy," just as surprised as everyone else apparently. I asked him what implications that might have and he told me he had already contacted 3 of UF's commitments. This got me curious... any guesses which ones he might be talking about? My best guess would be Blakely and Leonard but I have no idea who that third might be.

In talking about Meyer he also said that CDD does a great job of not overworking the staff, making sure to respect family time. CDH is a class act and I'm even more impressed with this staff.

Forgive me if there's already something like this mentioned...
