How many people that are questioning if we are in

Well, I figured there would be a lot of backlash for getting a first-round spot, but I didn't think people would actually be stupid enough to argue that we're not even in the tournament.

VN, once again, I gave you wayyyyy too much credit.

Like golfballs said, I'm not sure if it's that they're this stupid or this miserable, either way it's a bad look.

I'm pretty sure the result of this game will be reflected in Martin's NCAAT record. He's either going to be 1-0 or 0-1 after Wednesday.

If we win against Iowa, will people say, "Well, we were in the play-in game, so even though we're in the round of 64 now, it doesn't really count...."?

In 2011 the NCAA tournament was expanded to 68 teams. In 2011, 2012 and 2013 at least one of the teams from the First Four, or first round has won their second round game and advanced to the field of 32.

For the record I think TN got shafted , they should not be in a play-in game. I saw the committee has TN ranked as the number 44 team. That means they have 24 teams ranked below us. Why did the committee decide we have to be in a play in game when they have us ranked about 24 teams? We are in the tourney, that is fact. We are not seeded unless we beat IA, that is also fact.

If I am wrong answer the below questions.

What seed are we today ? Don't come back with 11, we are not. We are playing Iowa to be the 11 seed.

What will the seeding reflect the loser of the TN-IA to be?

The NCAA is screwed up. Every team in the tourney should be seeded. No team should have to win a game in order to be seeded.

I'm not really sure why this is so hard for you to understand, or if you're just being argumentative.

I'm not saying this to be a dick, but to be accurate and rational:

Your questions are irrelevant because of the answer to the following:
"Is UT in the NCAA tournament?"
Yes.

No i am not argumentative. I am taking a common sense approach to this. We are playing to be seeded. I see no other way to view it other than we are playing to be seeded, whch is BS. As I said earlier the NCAA has 24 teams ranked behind us. How did they determine to take some middle of the field teams, make them play to be seeded and let worse teams be seeded. I am not knocking the team, I am trying to understand this crap. We should be in solid the way the team has played the last few weeks.

This committee amazes me more every year.
Time to change the system and let the AP handle the job.
Much more knowledgeable people.

I think it would be better if they invited some actual "basketball" people to be on the committee. It's very telling when just about anyone and everyone that gets paid to watch and report on college basketball looks at your bracket and goes "that's just wrong". Speaking mostly of Louisville getting only a 4 seed.

I think the committee spends to much time "rewarding", "punishing" and "sending messages".

There will always be flaws in the selection and seeding. We got the shaft end of it this year, as opposed to getting the good end back in '06 (first time we got a 2 under Pearl, I think that was '06).

I'lll be SHOCKED if this thread isn't picked up by other fan sites. It would be sad enough that we have fans that don't understand that we are in the tournament, but it's even more sad that many of our fans DON"T WANT US TO BE CONSIDERED AS IN!!!

All of this is jmo:

Tennessee is technically IN the tourney. Anyone who bet against them making it owes up. The NCAA refers to it as the first round and Tennessee is in the tournament field.

Now from a fan's perspective: Many people, including myself, feel the tournament doesn't start until Thursday. The notion that 60 teams receive a bye and 8 teams play in the "first round" is laughable. What the NCAA calls the "first round" is in all reality a play in game. I think most people realize this but don't like to hear others undermining the Vols situation.

I think a lot of these guys are football fans that root for the basketball team on the side. The funny thing is, I'm the other way around.

The Midwest bracket shows the 11 as Tennessee./Iowa. How can there be 2 eleven seeds in same bracket.

That is why they call this a play in game. The winner is in as the 11the loser is out with no seed. Only the field of 64 is seeded.

The field was expanded to 68 in 2011... Where have you been? This is the first round.. Last time I checked ANY team who loses is out.....???

The play in games should be two low seeds bracketed with the number one seed . That is the logical way to do it. They win the play in game and get their chance to knock the number one seed out of the tourney. It is silly to have two 11 seeds playing a play in game.

Tennessee has to be in the tourney to have a chance to win the tourney. Georgia can't win it neither can Ole Miss or Bama because they didn't get selected. Tennessee got selected they can win the tourney all they have to do is win six games. That would make us National Champs with a record of 27 and 12.

It's just a thought. Even as far as last year, I've heard Cuonzo felt "out of place."

I can think of a lot of teams that wish they were in Tennessee's position. Ole Miss, Arkansas, SMU, Missouri, LSU, and 100 more.
