Year 3. Next year will be a little better.

Based on where the program is, 5 years. That gives CBJ the opportunity to graduate one full class of his recruits.

I'm thinking that the way Butch has been good at recruiting, we should be at Championship play around 2015 or 2016 for the SEC East. If that's the question that's asked here?

IF he can continue to recruit in the top 5 for the next 2 classes (15-16) has a chance to get 9 or 10 wins in 2016. that will put Tennessee in the mix for the eastern division with about 4 other teams..

At least this coach understands why we are losing.

He knows we won't be a champion in this league until we have a dominant defensive line and can run the ball at will.

2015 is likely the first year where we could contend. Hopefully we are perennial powers again after that.

Good answers by all posters. At least the "want it now" lunatics haven't hijacked this thread---------yet.

Year 3. Next year will be a little better.

I know that supposedly next year is going to be better, but I actually expect us to regress a little.

We are losing both the offensive and defensive lines.

We will keep hearing the same reasons, we are young lack speed and quality depth, I expect to keep hearing that until year 3. That is when those excuses no longer becomes viable.

In year 5 the cupboard should be fully stocked with no more excuses.

I honestly hope we don't do something silly like sign an extension in year two.

I really like Butch Jones I really feel as if he has the program headed in the right direction. I hope that Butch Jones is our coach for the next 20 years.

I guess you could say I am butthurt as a fan, I am tired of hearing the same old line we lack SEC talent and quality depth. That may be the fact of the matter at the moment, I hope that Butch Jones's rights the ship because if he doesn't I fully believe that he is our last chance before we slip into the likes of Vandy and UK for a long long time.

I hope that before Butch Jones leaves that we are paying him more than Nick Saban, because that means he will be successful and at the end of the day.

If that is the case then "The Legacy Class" is going to be mighty angry with that outcome...."Team #118" is going to be on a mission to own the S.E.C. East and bring the S.E.C. Title back to Knoxville :good!:

These kids are motivated...on a mission...we can question a lot that goes on this season...but Butch is trying to wipe the stench of suck that Dooley left on the program...the unknown of how to close and finish like a champion. This next recruiting class gets that...they are feeding on that...it is a fuel we will not understand until they hit the field and see those engines revved up and turned loose.

There is about to be something truly special about this team...and it will be before "The Legacy Class" has left there blood, sweat, and tears on the field of Neyland Stadium for the last time!

I guess he'll get as many as he wants. We can't afford another coach financially or emotionally. We've been waiting till next year for so long now I don't know what we'll do if we ever get there.

I say next year will be better because we play Utah st. Arkansas st, Chattanooga and ole miss. Then we have a bye before Georgia and Florida in week 5 instead of week 3.

I don't think people realize how far we have fallen. When vol fans are satisfied with 6-6 and 7-5 is an awesome job, it truly shows how LONG we have been down. I just wonder if we'll ever get back to where 8 wins is a down year????

Most coaches nowadays don't get 5. It's become win or get out.

Im through with chasing coaches .. I think Butch is the coach UT needs for a while.. He can coach , he seems to be real about being a Tennessean and coaching at this level.. Go Butch and vol fans

I do understand that the schedule OOC gets a little easier.

Honestly I am not worried about our OOC the only thing that matters at this point is the conference play.

We stay play Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Missouri, Florida, Vanderbuilt, and Kentucky.

I know I will Judge the team according to SEC play, and so far Butch has done better than the last administration in my eyes by not going O- October again.

I believe we are on the right track, and I like everyone else want to see us win and win NOW, unfortunately the Dooley debacle set us back 4 years at minimum. So instead of a 5 year rebuild we are looking at minimum a 10 year rebuild of which we are now 50% off the way through. I support Butch unless he pulls a Dooley.

Patience is a virtue. Honestly....everyone in the country knows Butch Jones defeated Mark Richt with a lesser talented but more physical team with coaching and effort...just didn't get the "W" for it and then went and defeated Steve Spurrier right after that. With that said...with a way less talented offensive team...what more do you want from the guy right now....honestly :dunno:

Didn't say I wanted anything from him. Just wondering if we are ever going to truly be back. I will always support the Vols, but it is just sad to see a once elite program settling and be excited for mediocrity. This year is meaningless, I am talking about the next 2 years and especially year 4.

He will need 3 years of his recruits and 2013 doesn't count as his year. The cupboard is bare in the trenches and in overall team speed for his system.
