How was that not a TD?

If you can't see Pig didn't have control of the ball as it crossed the goal line, then you'll never see it, and we'll never agree.

The Vols balled out today, I'm proud of their effort. Anyone watching the game today came away impressed with UT's effort.

But Pig didn't have control of the ball.

As a outsider, what's your overall opinion on us? Are we getting better? Are we as vol fans being to picky?

Thanks

I wanted to see it...I didn't. The ball came out of his hands before the ball touched the pileon. There are other things to get irritated about...this call is not one of them. Pig was giving it his all and the ball slipped out. The threads being made on this forum are laughable. Threads being made calling our defense slow literally 1 min after Murray ran long on us. Think before you make threads people...there are plenty of other threads discussing the game and blown calls...Heck there is even one talking about a facebook page against the head ref.

For calling me an a-hole, F you buddy.

I've been nothing but respectful in every thread I've posted in tonight.

This game game was a classic and you should be damn proud of your team's effort.

I'm going to assume that was the alcohol or disappointment talking for him.

Which is funny, if Arkansas was beating UF he'd probably be in a thread on the NCAA board rejoicing in UF's misery.

He was directing the ball including at a point after it crossed the plane. I'd say that is control. I won't go all tautological. The flick of the wrist after the ball crossed the plane is what strikes me in his taking his possession to its maximum point of its potential extension.

I could be wrong, but I don't think he protested too much when the call was made, which makes me believe he knew he didn't have possession.

If he did protest a lot, then I didn't see it.

I'll admit I am being somewhat hyper-technical. Truth is I initially agreed with the call overturning the TD. The more I have thought about it and watched my doubts have emerged.

Cause he lost control of the ball before breaking the plane of the goal line. It's a rule.

You need glasses. He did not have control of the ball. It was clear as day that it was a fumble and a touch back.
Tight too...all 4 fingers and his thumb had the ball. Lost it after breaking the plane.

Someone will have the moment captured for all to see.

Put it to you this way...

With superior offensive talent last season, you guys quit against us when we tied the game on Burton's TD run.

This season, with inferior offensive talent, you kept fighting after we went up by 21 and cut into our lead.

Today, you outplayed arguably the best team in our league.

It's clear that Butch Jones is an upgrade over Dooley. It might take a couple years to stock the cupboards with talent, but I think you guys turned the corner today.

That's a touchdown people. Overturning that score is an outrage.

Thank you for responding

We used to be feared/respected. We need to get back there.

Hopefully the team builds from this.

It was NOT a TD!!!! I even first thought it was then the replay showed he fumbled right before he broke the plane. It sucks but we move on to the bye. Hell of an effort though :)) they did not give in at half!!! They gave their all out there tonight!!!

It was a touchdown. The video shows hand clearly on ball at the chalk changing direction and dropping ball AFTER the pylon.

He had a grip on the nose.

No...he did not. The right call was made. The ball MAY have still been touching his fingertips, but it was obvious he had lost possession and the ball was coming free prior to the goal line...therefore, the rules consider that to not be in possession of the ball.

Watch the video. The ball was in his hand at goal and dropped after crossing.

Here is the moment just prior to breaking the plane. If he had control at that point then he has super human fingertips. Pig did great but this was the right call.

Not going to lie, I thought that was a touchdown too. When the refs called it a touchback, I just threw my hat at the tv.

Your picture proves my point. His hand is on ball at goal. He even changed direction past goal. The ball never left his possession until past pylon - much less before pylon.

Facts matter.

How many times is this going to have to be posted? Having his hand on the ball does NOT mean possession.

You're right, facts DO matter; it's just too bad you're ignoring them.
