Time’s Up CEO Praises Biden After Declining to Aid Accuser Tara Reade

Collin Anderson - MAY 1, 2020 2:45 PM

An organization created to help victims of sexual assault—but declined to aid Biden accuser Tara Reade earlier this year—is now praising her alleged assailant.

Time's Up was created to support victims of sexual assault but declined to assist former Biden staffer Tara Reade, who accused the presumptive Democratic nominee of forcibly penetrating her in 1993. The organization's CEO, Tina Tchen, who worked alongside Biden as a top official in the Obama White House, lauded Biden for his "transparency" in a Friday interview with MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle.

"Biden has called for full transparency, he's called for records to come out—that's what needs to happen every time these issues come up, and I would suggest that it needs to happen with other candidates who are running for president," Tchen said shortly after Biden broke his silence on the network.

During his MSNBC appearance Friday morning, Biden repeatedly rejected calls to release documents from his Senate career, which are currently sealed at the University of Delaware and may include records related to Reade. Biden said the archive does not contain "personnel records by definition" but added that he would not release the documents because they could include policy positions that would become "fodder in a campaign at this time." He also refused to conduct a more specific search of the documents for any mention of Reade's name, saying, "There is nothing.… I don't understand the point you are trying to make."

Formed during the #MeToo movement to help victims of sexual assault with legal fees and public relations, the Time's Up Legal Defense Fund declined to assist Reade in her case against Biden, claiming his presidential candidacy would threaten its nonprofit status. Tchen previously served as chief of staff to Michelle Obama—Biden said he would pick the former first lady as his running mate "in a heartbeat" on Monday. In addition, the public relations firm working on behalf of Time's Up, SKDKnickerbocker, is run by top Biden campaign adviser Anita Dunn. Loyola Law School tax professor Ellen Aprill disputed the group's reasoning for refusing to help Reade, telling the Intercept that as long as Time's Up shows "neutral criteria … being applied to individuals completely independent of their running for office," its nonprofit status would not be threatened by assisting Reade.

Nolte: Joe Biden Says Tara Reade Deserves ‘Rigorous Investigation’ While Hiding Senate Papers

Joe Biden claims Tara Reade’s credible sexual assault allegation against him should be “subject to appropriate inquiry and scrutiny” while he blocks any hope for “appropriate inquiry and scrutiny” by refusing to release 40 years of his Senate archives at the University of Delaware.

During his disastrous Morning Joe appearance Friday, Biden reiterated this belief. “Women have a right to be heard, and the press should rigorously investigate claims they make.” He said this right before he blocked any hope for a “rigorous investigation” by refusing to release his Senate archives.

MSNBC: So, personnel records aside, are you certain there was nothing about Tara Reade in those [University of Delaware] records, and if so —

BIDEN: I am absolutely certain.

MNSBC: — why not approve a search of her name in those records?

BIDEN: Approve a search of her name?

MSNBC: Yes, and reveal anything that might be related to Tara Reade in the University of Delaware records.

BIDEN: There is nothing. They’re not there. I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make.

MSNBC: The point I’m trying to make —

BIDEN: There are no personnel records by definition.

MSNBC: The point I’m trying to make is you are approving, and actually calling for a search of the National Archives records of anything pertaining to Tara Reade. I’m asking, why not do the same in the University of Delaware records, which have raised questions because they were supposed to be revealed to the public and then they were sealed for a longer period of time. Why not do it for both sets of records?

BIDEN: Because the material in the University of Delaware has no personnel files. It has — but it does have a lot of confidential conversations that I had with the president about a particular issue, that I had with the heads of state of other places, that — that would not be something that would be revealed while I was in public office or while I was seeking public office. It just stands to reason. To the best of my knowledge, no one else has done that either.

MSNBC: I’m just talking about her name, not anybody else in those records — a search for that. Nothing classified with the president or anybody else. I’m just asking, why not do a search for Tara Reade’s name in the University of Delaware records?

BIDEN: Look, I mean, who does that search?

MSNBC: The University of Delaware. Perhaps you set up a commission that can do it. I don’t know, whatever is the fairest way to create the most transparency.

BIDEN: Well, this is — look, Mika. She said she filed a report. She has her employment records still. She said she filed a report with the only office that would have a report in the United States Senate at the time. If the report was ever filed, it was filed there, period.
So out of one side of his mouth, Biden is nobly claiming all women — including his credible accuser — deserve a full investigation into their claims. But out of the other side of his mouth, as you can see from the transcript above, Biden is blocking that full investigation by refusing to release records that directly pertain to decades of his public life.

It’s worth noting that this alleged harassment complaint is separate from Reade’s allegation Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993. The lifelong Democrat and former Biden staffer says Biden cornered her in a deserted hallway, shoved his hands up her skirt, and then his fingers into her vagina.

This.

My God, this country is f***ed. People who literally explained away or straight up ignored Trump and Kavanaugh's sexaual assault accusations, especially Orange Man, are now clutching their pearls at this. Just ROFL.

JFC.
Are you really that dumb that you've completely missed the point, or are you just deflecting? When Kavanaugh was accused, the left came up with this "believe women" standard. Now that Biden is accused, they've decided that is no longer the standard. This isn't about whether the accusation is true. We'll never know that with certainty as too much time has passed. This is about the left moving the goal posts to suit themselves. If you cannot see the blatant hypocrisy on display, then you're choosing to be blind. They're refusing to live by the standards they themselves have set.

Susan Sarandon Praises Nancy Pelosi’s Democrat Challenger After Speaker Defends Biden

Actress Susan Sarandon praised a Democratic challenger to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s congressional seat, arguing that people have the chance to vote for someone willing to “speak up even when it’s not politically expedient.”

Sarandon made what looked at least like a tacit endorsement in response to Pelosi’s reaction to allegations against presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden, where she effectively dismissed the claims made by his former Senate staffer Tara Reade that he sexually assaulted her back in 1993.

Sarandon urged people to check out the campaign of Pelosi’s primary challenger, self-described “democratic socialist” Shahid Buttar.

“In November, San Francisco has the opportunity to vote for someone willing to speak up even when it’s not politically expedient,” the Thelma & Louise star said. “Check out @ShahidForChange.”

“When a congressional staff member is hired, they are hired as an employee of the House or Senate. Their tenure is with the institution, and under the administration of the Clerk of the House or the Secretary of the Senate. They work in the office of a member, senator, committee, etc They may choose to remain employed with another office when their member or senator leaves, or they may choose to separate from the Hill. But the exit paperwork, as with all paperwork, is handled by the Clerk or Secretary's office, re COBRA, retirement, final pay, etc. When a member or senator leaves, the House or Senate sends all of their office materials from both on-site and those in storage to the retiring member or senator's home, office or designated destination like a university. But those materials do not include employment records. Employment records remain the custody of the House or Senate because the institution was, is, and remains the employer of all members, senators, and staff members. If records exist of a complaint filed with the Senate, they would not be with Biden's official and personal archives in Delaware. But they would be with the Secretary of the Senate under whatever storage protocols administered by that office for employee records.”

As I predicted on Thursday night, Joe Biden would deny the sexual assault allegations by his former staffer Tara Reade. Then Democrats and media would argue that he was being transparent, he’d answered questions and it was now time to move on.

That’s already happening. They even have a hashtag going, #IBelieveBiden, the Democratic answer to everything, a hashtag. But to be honest, it wasn’t much of a prediction, given that this has been their pattern with any allegation against a Democrat.

It also didn’t take much of a prediction that their “believe all women” position would fall in the face of these accusations and that some would attack Reade, as indeed they are with some accusing her of being a “Putin agent” (haven’t we stopped the nonsense conspiracy yet?).

But I have to admit that I’m not sure anyone would have predicted the take of New Hampshire Democratic state representative Richard Komi. It’s truly vile.

Komi claimed that the “position of the vagina” wouldn’t allow the sexual assault that Tara Reade described, unless “their is some cooperation from the female herself.” Yikes.

Woman Claims Biden Sexually Harassed Her When She Was 14-Year Old

A new allegation concerning Joe Biden and his inappropriate behavior towards has surfaced, and this time it has taken a darker turn as it concerns a 14-year old.

The allegation comes via a story over at Law & Crime, where a woman has claimed that she was 14 when Biden complimented her on her breast size. The comments came during a political event Eva Murray attended twelve years ago.

The woman, Eva Murry, told Law&Crime that Biden complimented her on the size of her breasts at the First State Gridiron Dinner & Show in 2008, a long-running roast of and party for politicians, journalists and prominent business figures held each year in Delaware. Murry says she remembers the event occurring sometime around May of that year.

One friend and her sister said that Murry told her details of the alleged incident more or less immediately after it happened. Four other friends of Murry’s said they were told about the incident, with the same details, between two and three years after it originally occurred.

Law&Crime interviewed Murry, her sister, and those friends over the course of multiple days. Murry is the niece of former Republican Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell and said she occasionally received school credit for attending such political events. O’Donnell was running a long-shot campaign against Biden at the time that the alleged sexual harassment incident occurred.
Murray, who is now 26, engaged, and has two children, acknowledged to the website that the timing of the allegations could be seen as political, but she insists that the event is true.

This is first new allegation of sexual misconduct against the presumptive Democratic nominee for President since he addressed the Tara Reade allegations on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Friday morning. During that interview, Biden denied that the sexual assault described by Reade did not happen.

There has so far been no comment from the Biden campaign on Murray’s allegation.

The position of the female vagina wouldn't allow a sexual assault like she described? They must have moved then, or that guy is gay and doesn't know where they are located.

Is there a category for us of that figure Joe probably did what that chick said he did but don't really care? I mean if'n we're being honest, Biden did something equivalent that Donny was bragging about.

I believe Biden has more sexual assault reported than his draft deferments now. I think 8 or 9 women and only 5 draft deferments.

We must know the truth. The American people deserve an extensive investigation into this matter
