Actually, I put together a charity in my hometown of Senatobia, MS 3 years ago for the Baddour's Center (it's an institution here that houses the mentally challenged, provides them a wonderful community, and in general helps them live their lives on their own as adults - it's a wonderful place).
Well, I contacted Hugh's representatives (he was coach at Ole Miss at the time). Told them everything about it, and that we would love to have Hugh come and give a speech about leadership and overcoming adversity (big LOL as I found it hypocritical at the time and still do, but was aware that the impact that a "local legend" could have speaking to his community where he grew up. Well, they scheduled a time in which he was going to call and speak to me personally about it. Never happened, instead I received a call from his secretary in which she confirmed his interest and told me to send more info, as it's something Hugh would "love to do for his hometown" (it's technically not his hometown but w/e). I sent in more info via email, and after some correspondence, decided on a date in which we'd hold the event and that he'd be able to make it.
Two weeks later, I received in the mail 3 autographed photos of Hugh and a very short later that said something along the lines of "Thanks but no thanks".
