Humbly requesting help

@GordonC just got the news that we lost him this morning. Very sad to hear, but hopefully he’s out of pain. Prayers for you and the whole family
Thanks so much. It is good the pain is over. Mom's doing well for now, it seems. They were pretty close in age to be an aunt-nephew. He always gave me good garden advice. He was a good one. I remember when he and Sue first built that house and the kids were little, and we went over there a lot. One of his brothers built a house on the property beside ours, and we were always a little closer to that family than many of our other relatives. One of his other brothers is supposed to come replace some soffit for me soon.
We are remote school for floods today, and I've been in online class meetings (have a break right now) but I was planning to let you know about this. I'm glad you heard.
Mom got the call from his sister-in-law about 11:15, she said, but wasn't sure about exactly when he passed. I knew it had gotten bad, but the pain is over.

When I was a kid, I remember I thought it was so weird that Sue's maiden name was Nouse and she was from South Dakota, as I remember it, and a distant relative of Cheryl Ladd. HA
Gary made my dad a Johnny Cash/Elvis 8-track tape that we used to always play in our 73 Pontiac Catalina. I still have that tape somewhere. I wish I still had that car.
Sue was a TROOPER through all this in terms of being a caretaker.

It’s a great family. Phil had been a friend since HS. He’s a year younger, but we always got along due to our love of sports. I was always intimated by Mr Stafford. He was considered one of, if not the hardest teacher in school. I had him my senior year and realized he wasn’t nearly as scary as I thought, but he definitely demanded excellence and perfection. I respected that. Then went to the state b-ball tourney with their fam and it was crazy how different he was outside the schoolhouse. Just a regular guy. Loved that he participated in our yearly college basketball tournament bracket challenge. Again, prayers for the whole family through this time but strength and confidence.

The JCP has the obit this morning. I thought it was as good of a writeup as possible. Services are Saturday at Snyder's.
