Hunter

2010? You mean the year he only had 16 catches and 432 receiving yards? Come on, man.

And he didn't do anything against big teams in 2012? Did you watch any games? Let's review his season against "big teams" this year:

NCSU: 9 catches, 73 yards.
FL: 5 catches, 76 yards, including a 42-yarder
Ala: 4 catches, 70 yards, including a 44 yarder
USC: 8 catches, 90 yards

What more do you want from the guy, especially with a freak like Patterson on the other side getting half the targets?

I want him to not drop passes. I want him to consistently get off coverage. You conveniently failed to mention how he disappeared vs UGA, MSU, and even Vandy.

As for the 3 SEC games you did mention... I want him to come up with a 100+ yd receiving effort against those types of teams with that type of talent rather than Mizzou, Akron, GSU, and Troy.

I LIKE Hunter. I am simply being honest about what I would think if I were a scout responsible for recommending players to a GM for the draft. There are MANY WR's out there who have had better, more consistent years. Hunter is 20th nationally in receiving ypg... he drops to 60 when you consider only BCS automatic qualifiers. Kobi Hamilton is 8th. Jordan Matthews is 15th!!! TAM has two including a Fr above JH in that regard. Bumphis is higher.

When an O is built around passing and particularly JH and TB the way UT's was... you expect them to play big in big games.

Hunter made more big plays in 2010 than 2012. He got all of his stats this year against the lame teams. I don't recall him making any big time plays against the good teams in 2012. Hunter was better in 2010 than in 2012. Agree or disagree? Oh, and what is this every time he catches the ball he has to stop and try to juke side to side? Drops on 3rd and 4th down, had a pass bounce of his face saturday. Did he out jump any good DB for a ball this year? He will get eaten alive in the NFL.

I can get on board with this. Another year would do him good, but he has the ability to go now. It did seem like he had a key drop in just about every game though. If it were me, I'd go before risking another injury.

By the way, every team we played this year was a "good" team :)

2010- 7 td's.
I did not notice any TD's against NCSU,Bama,Fla,USCjr on your post. No offense , but I would rather he had 1 catch for a TD in each of the games you refferenced. Not bashing or hating. Just an observation. Oh, Georgia counts too. Did he score in that game?

He doesn't have to score tds to be productive and have a good season. Calvin J of the lions doesn't have a ton of tds but he def gets yrds and hes having a good season.

Maybe look at it this way. Because of UT's O philosophy, he had an abnormally high number of chances to make big plays and failed at too high of a ratio.

He is the top Wr this year. Size , speed , hands. NFL HOf's and all-pros drop passes. People who think he is not NFL ready or won't be a high pick know nothing about football. Watch more than UT games sometimes.

I'm happy with how he played. He's coming back from an acl tear and has done what he did this season.

I think Hunter, Patterson and Bray would all benefit from another year of college ball, but I can't blame anyone who thinks they can go pro for doing so.

This is my absolute biggest complaint about Hunter.

And, currently, I don't believe he's "NFL ready," but I don't believe he's "NFL un-ready" either. I think with the right coaching and summer workouts/camp, he'd be a good player but would end up being a so-so WR2 or a really good WR3.

I think right now he's early-middle first round. (10-17th pick). JMO.

He will and SHOULD go to the NFL, I wish him good luck and say thanks for making an otherwise awful several years exciting!

he may have had 1000 yds, but look who they were against. i like Justin, even though, he is more full of himself than anyone else on the team. Did not seem to take coaching too well. It is a shame because we all knew how good he could be from watching him in 2010 and the beginning of 2011. I like Hunter. I just don't like the way he played football for UT in 2012. We could have won several more games if he had played the way he was capable of

:ermm: you must know a different Justin Hunter.

All pros don't drop passes in the end zone that hit them between the numbers. I think if he goes, hes looking at 3rd round. Take off the homer glasses and think about his play this year. I like the guy too, but those who go early create and make big plays in big games. He killed as many drives and scores this year as anyone on this team. Your superstar shouldn't do that.

If he declares, don't be surprised to see Hunter move up a few spots with a good combine. He is a freak athlete. He has played timid, but still put up some numbers. Good production. He has had some drops, but has shown in the past he can catch, plus he has caught 70 balls this year.

TOS reporting that Bray has decided to stay for senior year. Maybe he can get either CP or Hunter to stay also.

I don't think Bray can get him to stay. However, IF Gruden were to come on board, I think all 3 would have to reconsider going pro. A year under coach Gruden might really improve their chances of going much higher in the 2014 draft.

Funny, every mock draft has him around 21st pick. When he gets to the combine, he is going to look even more impressive.

How much NFL do you watch? Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones etc have all dropped wide open TDs this year. It happens. All mock drafts have him first round.

Could you do any better? He still came back from a torn ACl and had a 1000 yard season.
