If his shoulder isn't football damaged too much. Anyone heard how stable his shoulder is after his second surgery? I saw him play in hs and he was the kinda back that only comes around once every ten years.

I don't question his ability, but I do question how he fits in with what Butch and Bajakian are trying to do. I hope they can adjust it for him, because I can't see the QB-takes-several-seconds-to-scan-the-defense-then-hands-to-RB-who-tries-to-run-around-the-edge-of-the-collapsing-line-of-scrimmage type plays we ran alot last year working with his talents.

OP,

5* players tend to have the ability to help immediately provided they aren't injured.

The biggest worry with him will be injuries. He really runs upright and that relates to more injuries especially with the hard hitters in college football. I think he will be an immediate star if he can stay on the field. I am really excited about our offense. Although young our skill level players are as good as anyone in the league. They may have some growing pains but I think were gonna score a lot of points.

Sorry, I've just been reading all these posts about not to expect too much next year, and I know that Hurd is the kinda back that could take it to the house every play. It's been awhile since I've seen one of our backs break 50plus td run. I think he can do it quite often next year if his shoulder can hold up to sec contact.

All running backs run "upright" until they're required to lower their pads. I don't expect a running back to "squat down" when hitting the hole.... I expect them to accelerate, eyes up, and then drop their pad level when either expecting or creating contact. I seriously doubt this will be a problem with Jalen.

^This! Seemed like watching a slow motion replay at times last year!

Hurd took his senior year off to make sure that he gets plenty of rehab time in so that he could be 100% when he plays football.

He is expected to be at his best physical condition when he plays this fall.

We could have Adrian Peterson and you'd still have doubts as to whether he'd be productive or not.

I can`t wait to see what Jalen does this season.
I believe he will make all of us glad he`s on our team.

While it is easily agreed that Jalen Hurd should make an immediate impact, there are scores of other recruits/early enrollees that can do the same. With more talent and speed(a sorely needed fix),our Vols will be much improved this year as a whole. The point all should consider is that with this influx of great talent, the players that are already here will be able to play their own position assignments and not have to try to cover part of anothers assignment, which leads to constant overruns and huge gaps in cutback lanes.August is coming, and I will be delighted to see team#118 seek and destroy.

So you feel the run game was ineffective? Is it the system you have issue with or the execution?
