Hurricane Michael

why wouldn't TWC or the cable networks hire them instead of the yappers they send that never get any good footage?

Actually a lot of storm chasers do have contracts with their local weather and others like, TWC, ACCU, NOA and so on...

This thing is going to exit the Virginia coast maintaining tropical storm status.

I wonder how Atlanta traffic is faring this morning.
Very little impact up that way other than wet pavement. The eye went about 40 miles southeast of me and I'm 75 miles south of Atlanta. We got gusts of 60+ and have tree and debris issues here. Wind impacts seem to be about 40-50 miles south of ATL.

Strong winds and rain as I made my way to work this morning in Charlotte. I live just southeast of Charlotte and it was hitting just as I was leaving. I'm guessing 35 mph winds and maybe 45 mph gusts. I got out of it about 5 miles down the road and it was just light rain. What I went through this morning was already worse than what we got from Florence.

Greenville County SC (and the rest of upstate SC) under a Tropical Storm Warning. I believe this is the first TSW ever issued for upstate SC. Schools are cancelled today.

My kids favorite restaurant. We could eat on the back porch and the kids could play on the swings and we could watch the surf. It is completely gone.

I had dinner there twice and also had lunch to go there just last Friday.

hurricane round 2 here. so far this morning, just been raining, not a ton of wind, that may change as we get closer to lunch. definitely gonna be worlse southeast and east of charlotte. the eastern part of NC is still in shambles, and parts still underwater. expecting anywhere from 2-6" of rain today across the state, more in some areas.

the only good news, this one isn't going to hang out for 3 days like Flo did. it'll be outta here by this evening.

hope everyone is fairing well. brutal yesterday along the gulf coast, s. alabama and Georgia....

I just don't think I can say wow enough. It's like every new picture that comes out I'm even more astounded by.

I hate stories like this. I only hope the owners had the right insurance and can get the money to rebuild.

Go to www.drudgereport.com and click on "storm chasers face death" story. Go down to the first video. Start at about 27 minute mark and watch until they abandon vehicle. The first 15 minutes is in Port St. Joe but then they head for Mexico Beach at the height of the storm. It is incredible and scary. Remember to turn on audio.

We used to have a place on CSB. Man I miss it. Indian Pass Raw Bar on a Saturday night was awesome. Still have a lot of friends in Port St. Joe and Apalach too. We are praying for them. It looks like the predicted track of the storm right now has it going right over the stump hole (you should know where that is).

They just did a report from St. George Island on the Weather Channel, and said that the bridge was in great shape and that there was surprisingly light damage considering the storm. The reporter was surprised. Still nothing much from Cape San Blas.
