Hoping for the best for you guysThanks. My wife is devastated, and I'm not far from it. We bought it 10 months ago, and have been remodeling ever since. The only vacations we have had there have been working vacations.
Last trip I painted inside and stained the deck. We have stripped off all the old cedar siding and rotted wood, and replaced with new, and replaced a lot of the decking. Also, had a retaining wall built to make more parking room. All new "hurricane proof" glass and doors. Installed hurricane straps while siding was off which tied the roof to the wall studs, wall studs to floor, and floor to pilings. We did everything to current standards, but I still doubt that it could take that kind of hit. Maybe we'll get lucky.
Hoping for the best and thankful you guys weren’t thereI just found out that Scallop Cove store survived. They have posted pictures on Facebook. That is the Marathon gas station and store out on the cape on the right. I also heard that the Cape San Blas Trading Post survived. It is a little farther out on the left. My place is close to both, so there's a chance.
Don’t know about Zee, but I do like some Ginger Lee....This thing is still a cat 1 and it's basically hitting south Atlanta.
David Muir and Ginger Zee from ABC news were left in Mexico beach to ride out the storm the same general area TWC abandoned for safety reasons. Ginger Zee was literally shaking in her broadcast and she'll probably have ptsd after this.
If I was Muir I would have said listen we’re not going to survive this, and it’s not technically cheating if you think you’re going to die. This thing is still a cat 1 and it's basically hitting south Atlanta.

My wife found someone who lives on the cape that posted some pictures on line after the storm. All I could see was some debris strewn around, some trees snapped off, and a lot of missing siding and shingles. The beach and dunes looked a little rough, but they are getting ready to redo the beach anyway. It was to start Monday of this week.Wow, that's great to hear... Gives you hope!
I'm just thankful that, so far, there haven't been reports of lives needlessly lost.

There were no pictures of any horrible destruction or major flooding. It didn't look nearly as bad as Mexico Beach from what I saw. Now, there may be some places that on the cape that got hammered, but they weren't in the pictures posted. I am cautiously optimistic.
