In the 34 bowl games played to this point, how many wide receivers have been injured? Zero?
Assuming each team plays at least 5 receivers during a game, that's 340 receivers who have played a bowl game.
Hyatt made his choice. It's over and done with.
Choosing to not play, for whatever reason (even valid reasons such as Draft stock), is quitting. There is a game still to be played and he has chosen to quit. I don't necessarily blame him but I think it's a bad trend developing in CFB. It won't be long until players are sitting out regular season games.
I agree. But now that it's over, and the win in Miami is in the books? I see more as those three possibly sliding instead of improving draft stock.
I definitely hope that isn't the case but if they had played and had decent stats it at the very least would have been beneficial. Now a less than spectacular showing at the combine will certainly do only one thing and that's not positive.
I apologize as I thought you were part of the opt-out feel goodism speak. I could care less how much anyone makes because it in no way (zero) affects me. I don't get involved in the "athlete vs the system argument". Don't understand fans who do. Just like I have said before I love watching the Vols. I have my entire life. But if I woke up tomorrow to zero sports of any kind my life would not be affected in the least. The year MLB cancelled the world series did it for me with all sports.
If you are hoping to get the masses on your side then the hyperbolic rhetoric should be lessened.

I did some injury to my liver last night. Drank close to a liter of Crown Royal ... but I'm a trooper, and there is no keeping this Vol out of action. I'm right back on the horse today. Just poured myself another Crown and Coke.I have no idea how many players have been injured in the bowl games. However, there were lots of UT injuries last night. How many UT players were injured in the weight room last month?
^^^ This last sentence sums it up. ^^^In the 34 bowl games played to this point, how many wide receivers have been injured? Zero?

lol....
Hyatt didn't play...........his loss.
No need in continuing the debate.
I have no problem with Hyatt not playing. I also have no problem with a person complaining about Hyatt not playing. I only took issue with someone saying a violent football game, where people try to slam you to the ground, has nearly the same injury rate as a player working out with a highly-qualified athletic trainer in a state-of-the-art facility.
Players have always had the right to sit out of their team's bowl game.
I dont have issue with Hyatt sitting. The kid played great all year and is the first Biletnikoff winner in program history. He was protecting himself and his future earnings which is going to change his entire families future. Last night was more about next year than this year in my mind. We didnt REALLY know what we had depth wise at WR behind Tillman, Bru, and Hyatt. We had seen flashes in garbage time but would they struggle against a stout Clemson defense, would we need to look to add weapons in the portal in the offseason? Also we didnt really know which Joe Milton would show against an elite defense in a big time game. They passed with flying colors. Squirrel will step right into Hyatts role and not miss a beat, Milton gets to build off a MVP performance. Hyatt sitting let us unleash Squirrel, the kid shredded a great defense and has all offseason to build confidence. We gained more with Hyatt sitting (regarding next year) than we would have gained with him playing. We got a look at younger guys and the higher Hyatt gets drafted the better it is for the program. Hyatt as a 1st rounder is a great recruiting tool for Huepel. I have zero issue with him sitting, imo we gained more long term with how things played out.
Tillman's prolonged injury status (since Akron) will probably cost him money. Hooker has 6-9 months rehab and, instead of mid-1st round, could easily fall to second or third round which would halve or third his contract.
This is shallow thinking that doesn't stand up to itself; how many QBs just stepped wrong and tore their own ACL, without contact? If only they could schedule their injuries & severity to earlier in their career instead of entering draft season. Or simply wish them away altogether.
