Under what hypothetical scenarios would you participate in protests/riots in the US? Would you participate in violence?

I'm kind of torn on what I would do and what I would protest/riot for. I have a feeling that a good portion of America is, too.

I can't think of many scenarios that both sides would rise together against our government.

I found this comment on Reddit to be hilarious and pretty accurate to this country's mentality:

"If the President goes to war for no good reason, holds prisoners indefinitely without due process, tortures people, allows corporate influence on our government, or seeks to limit the freedom of the press then I will be disappointed but if I can't look at porn, I will riot."

If Palin were elected POTUS, I'd want to carry a picket sign, but there'd be no point as the world would be ending shortly anyway.

An amnesty for illegals law might be one I would protest. I'd probably be pretty upset if the Arizona law isn't deemed okay by the Supreme Court, but I certainly wouldn't be rioting for that.

I've been struggling trying to understand the anger from the Right. If there are riots, it seems obvious it will be from the forces of reaction. (Why?)

Can anyone find in history another such phenomenon? The forces of reaction have been ascendent for 40 years, and yet, if there is revolution, it will be the forces of reaction ready to roll back the Enlightment.

Perhaps Zhou Enlai was right. When asked (in 1971) for his assessment of the 1789 French Revolution he replied, "It is too early to say."

There will always be anger from an opposing side. I mostly understand why the right is angry, but it doesn't align with my thinking.

There's nothing that could make me riot, but there are a few things that could make me join my father in the Alaskan wilderness and Leave civilization behind.

How much separation is between a protest, and a riot.

Speaking out for, or against something you believe seems to be mostly acceptable. at least here it does.

A riot for such a cause seems to take wanting your voice heard, to trying to force it moreso.

I thought about commenting on the grammatical and spelling errors in your post, but I figured anything more intellectually demanding than the above emoticon would have overloaded your senses and hurt your feelings.

We have our fair shares of idiots on both sides of the aisle.
