I blame this on our COACHES

Wrong. So many on here do not understand the game.

I understand Peterman's .5 second slower release than Worley might be just a slight problem against the fastest, most physical front 7 in college football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All those DISH TV videos from the VOLS summer practices show Ferguson and Dobbs getting rid of it the quickest.

Worley was third.

Peterman was always by far the worst.

I'm not a coach, and I don't understand the game, but the plays FLA made today against Peterman looked exactly like what I thought they would look like if those practice videos with his slow release and reads were transposed into a real SEC game.

THEY WERE.

SO--What am I missing?

He still went to a bowl game.

We knew going in Oregon, Florida and Bama were almost unwinnable road games. Georgia and South carolina at home might be ripe to be upset. So our season rest on making a bowl of Missouri, Auburn & Vanderbilt. assuming W. Kentucky, Kentucky AP & south Alabama are gimmes. So No way should we be down about losing today. We lost by more to Florida at home with more offensive weapons last year. Butch has improved things.

thats why we should've bought out oregon.

I see that arguement but competitors learn from a beatdown for future. If we only play the big time games when its convenient for us then Its hard to say to recruits come to Tennessee we back down to no one.

I won't say Butch was outcoached, but I will say he's still not proven himself. He could end up being a great hire, or he could end up being another Dooley. I don't believe any proof has been established for us to say one way or another.

And for those who want to throw out recruiting to claim he's great, when the LOI's are signed and faxed in on NSD, then you will have a valid claim. Until such time, everyone of those kids could potentially change their minds and sign elsewhere.

I want him to succeed. I want to win. But he hasn't shown me he's the right man for the job, yet.

I too spent all week bad mouthing Worsley. Take back all I said. Our talent level sucks. It will take couple years to recruit what Butch needs. If we blame anyone start with fulmrr. Kiffin Dooley and TN officials If TN would have spent the money to bring in a good coach in like Saban to begin with TN would not be in this friggin mess.

Quite frankly if you really believe the above you should quit posting on Vol football boards. The team played for sixty minutes with below average quarterbacks. The defense played well considering the position the offense put them in. We simply do not have the depth to play with the elite. CBJ tried to shake things up but made a poor decision IN HINDSIGHT. I like a coach who is willing to take some chances.

You sir do not know what you are talking about when you speak of football. CBJ will get us there but it won't be this year. 7-5 or 6-6 looks like where we are going.

I will take 7-5. Hell yeah!

Like Butch said in the post game presser...you can't blame everything on the quarterback. The entire team must improve tremendously in order to compete in the SEC. It takes time and will not happen overnight! Be patient!

TN - Comes in making a split decision to put in Peterman because of QB issues, we end up putting Worley in and still lose. Bad decision on Butch from get-go.

FL - Comes in with Driskell as starter and complete gameplan but within minutes he is out. Back-up QB played like he was the starter anyways. 2nd half, coaches tweaked gameplan to make it easier for him. We got out coached.

Agree???

Sorry you are wrong but troll away if it makes you happy.

Every program in history of mankind is thankful that Dooley is one of a kind. No way any coach could be worse.

Bama would claim Shula, FL would claim Zook, ND would claim Weiss, and I'm sure USC fans would currently claim Lane. A bad coach is a bad coach. Dooley is not one of a kind.

I understand the game just fine. Against real BCS level players, his schemes do not fool anyone. He can't get receivers open. His D can't keep contain.... and not because of speed but because of alignment and leverage.

UT's staff was outcoached today. UF was looking for playmakers coming into this game... and UT's DC helped them find some.

The really, really troublesome part of this is that Muschamp is probably the worst coach in the top half programs. UT made him looking like a genius today.

It was first year since 1970 that not one Alabama player was drafted.

2006 16
2007 12

The recruiting years leading to Sabans 1st year .

They had a solid junior QB named John Parker Wilson , a lot of very young very talented wide receivers.DJ hall - one of the best in bama history , Marquis Maze , and Darius Hanks. Big offensive and defensive fronts...with quite a few NFL contributors on each. Running back were Roy Upchurch and Glen Coffee...

Most of the talent was situated in the underclassmen ..but yeah ...they had alot more talent available than we did . I am not sure if you just dont recall or understand what you are looking at when you stare at the TV .

This group of talent went 10-2 the next season

Mr. Analysis lost again. But of course the coaches are clueless, otherwise all your predictions look foolish.

Team with no QB against a top 5 D equals terrible matchup. Not rocket science here.

I think you are dead on here . We have a QB that can complete basic passes and at least threaten a down field. We are a different team. The run gaps open up , play action is effective , and the defense is off the field.

Maybe one of these guys will mature as the season progresses

TN has a Junior QB. TN has 'young' WR. TN has big experienced line. The difference is Bama hired an elite coach.
