Welcome bud! Are you a Cleveland Browns or Steelers fan? I never understood the connection between buckeye and Steelers fans but have know several in my life who love both.

Vol Nation Community,

I come in peace and will introduce myself as someone who really enjoys getting to know another fan base, especially those in the SEC, prior to a bowl style game.

Been snooping around reading about the Vols on this site the last 24 hours and figured I’d make an account.

I grew up in Ohio but now live in NC (cue the go back to Ohio sayings). However, my mom’s whole side of the family is from the south. Her family moved up to Ohio for my grandpas job and she ended up meeting my dad at OSU. I’ve been a rabid fan of the Buckeyes since birth and graduated from OSU. Made a life decision and picked heading south for greener pastures for work post grad.

Have met quite a few TN fans & actually attended the NC St vs Tenn game in Charlotte this year.

I’m TBD on going to the game as it’s close to Christmas and have some other impt items to tend to. Last game I went to was the UGA Peach Bowl game. Might never recover from that loss but sitting field level behind the bench that had CJ Stroud and Marvin Harrison Jr was really cool.

If y’all have any questions on Columbus or OSU in general, I’ll do my best to help out. Looking fwd to friendly banter. Really cool that two historic programs can meet in this atmosphere. FYI - my dad was at the citrus bowl between Peyton and Eddie. Claims his feet are still damp to this day.

When we lost to Greg Oden and OSU in the NCAA Tournament, I was sad but that game was very entertaining.

I can relate to your history. I am from Tennessee and live here now, but most of my family moved from Tennessee, Memphis actually when Ford Motors moved to Lorain, Ohio. That was a huge corporate move back in that time period.
My Dad was working at Ford, and he said “no way he was moving up there with those damn Yankees.”
No disrespect intended, but every time I visited family there I said to myself, “thank you Dad”
Bet you are liking North Carolina.
Go Vols!
Talk about a small world. My family grew up in Amherst

Does Urban Meyer return to Columbus once Ryan Day gets kicked to the curb?
Can’t see this happening to be honest. The guy prob still has it in him (all his personal vices aside). I’m honestly hoping Day can make a deep playoff run because he’s a great recruiter and you never know if you’ll whiff on the next hire. He really has a Michigan problem though - guy needs to see a sports psychologist or something.

I’m a Browns and Panthers fan. Browns from dads side and panthers from moms side. Browns definitely higher.

Tons of Steelers fans from Ohio given Pittsburgh is very close to Ohio. Also, a very good franchise so lots of front runners. Cleveland and Pittsburgh have similar blue collar, industrial backgrounds. It’s like a rivalry with your cousin. You’re similar but different.

Bro just went for it

The O-Line even with injuries is good at pass blocking. They continue to run these dumb zone reads on runs and haven’t been doing a good job. If Day adjusts, they should be ok. The worry for OSU is that he changes the lineup again or gets involved in play calling (decent chance).

Here’s a random one. I really wish y’all would revert back to the old striping pattern on your jerseys.

Good post. Best of luck in the game.

Someone CC the clown from OU on this about how to introduce themselves to the board.

He might be in cbus with the highest paying position for a state employee in January haha.
Hello CharlotteBuckeye, my grandpa and grandmother moved to Ohio when I was about 6. He had sisters and nephews there. They lived in Massillon,Canton and Columbus at different times before finally moving to Beach City. They were all big buckeye fans. My grandfather was a buckeye first and Vol second. He loved the Cincinnati Reds. What is wild I have a second cousin from there that now lives in Casar, North Carolina she is in the health care field Nurse/Medic. It should be a great game, I am a huge Vol fan. I remember my grandparents taking me by the Horseshoe when I was about 7-8 years old. I looked huge as it is but to a 7-8 year old everything looks so magnified. It should be a great game, I sure would love to go that would be a bucket list away game in a classic setting. Most Vol fans will be friendly on here, like all fan bases we have our bad. But most are great folks. It should be a wild game. See ya and hope to talk some more.

Way, way back in the day, as a kid, besides the Vols, I liked the buckeyes b/c of Archie Griffin and b/c they were on TV seemingly every week w/ Keith Jackson calling the game.

Also, just fyi...
My Grandfather loved Archie Griffin. He was a great player and a class man.

My uncle is from Vermillion and graduated from OSU and went to work Ford out of college sweeping the floors. Worked his way up and entered the UAW and was very high up in the ranks.
After retiring he was Mayor of Sheffield Village for 16 years and retired from that last December. His name is John Hunter.

We’ve lost 5 guys but no one significant (I guess the back up QB is, but we have 3 5 stars that will be sophomores next year).

The o line is a product of weaker than expected recruiting and then losing 2 top round talent guys definitely hurts.

The d line is great on paper. The two DTs are both NFL guys that can cause issues on the inside. JTT and Jack Sawyer are the two ends and are top 3 round pick guys. However, the d line can get ‘stale’ sometimes if we only blitz 4.

Jim Knowles can get creative and did against Indiana (large talent disparity there as well). Our defense is at its best when we’re rotating 8ish guys in on the line.

My biggest concern in this game is 1) o line not holding up 2) d line not getting pressure and allowing Nico to have some easy throws with all day in the pocket.
Your OL might not hold up. TN’s DL has knocked every qb out of the game except Milroe and Beck. I doubt Nico will get a lot of time in the pocket because our OL isn’t great at pass blocking. I expect this to be a low scoring game that’s decided by turnovers. TN is also a heavily penalized team, so I’m hoping they clean that up. No easy task on the road at night.

I can handle the heat. Let’s say Ohio State is down 21-3 at halftime & then I may delete this site from my history and never return again ha.
I grew up in Michigan and my dad wrestled for Michigan State back in the day. I went to Tennessee, but returned to Michigan for bit as an adult. I have now lived in Alabama for over 20 years. I have friends that are fans of many different teams, including Ohio State. All I have to say is, Michigan fans are the worst most egoistical, ******* fans I have ever experienced.

Switch teams. Seriously. You should switch.

Started the season with medium expectations. Was very good until our LT tore his ACL and they started shuffling around various guards and tackles and inserting them wherever. Had like 165 yards rushing vs Oregon prior to him going down in the 2Q.

Started gelling together again then the starting C (finalist for Remington like y’all’s) tore his Achilles.

Recruiting and development has been the weak link at the O line position.

I would be shocked if we tried to run up the middle vs yall after the Michigan game and seeing yalls studs. We have had mild
Success running outside mainly bc of Tre and Judkins who are both RBs that will play on Sunday.
It's hard to run outside on a good SEC defense. But they are welcome to try.Welcome to VOL Nation.
