I'll answer.. a good.qb can get to em,.and one of em.gets.called.for DPI like once a game. Their safeties are legit elite,.both. Their Nickelback is excellent tho, and both safeties are really good in run support. Ransom is weaker than downs in coverage, but can handle it adequately vs non-elite playersOP ( or anyone realy)
How good is Ohio State's Secondary?
Crept around the empty stadium during our men's NCAA tournament games there a few years ago. Even snuck inside. Super cool stadium, very historic feel, loved it. Any insight into where they banish the visitors to, by section?Vol Nation Community,
I come in peace and will introduce myself as someone who really enjoys getting to know another fan base, especially those in the SEC, prior to a bowl style game.
Been snooping around reading about the Vols on this site the last 24 hours and figured I’d make an account.
I grew up in Ohio but now live in NC (cue the go back to Ohio sayings). However, my mom’s whole side of the family is from the south. Her family moved up to Ohio for my grandpas job and she ended up meeting my dad at OSU. I’ve been a rabid fan of the Buckeyes since birth and graduated from OSU. Made a life decision and picked heading south for greener pastures for work post grad.
Have met quite a few TN fans & actually attended the NC St vs Tenn game in Charlotte this year.
I’m TBD on going to the game as it’s close to Christmas and have some other impt items to tend to. Last game I went to was the UGA Peach Bowl game. Might never recover from that loss but sitting field level behind the bench that had CJ Stroud and Marvin Harrison Jr was really cool.
If y’all have any questions on Columbus or OSU in general, I’ll do my best to help out. Looking fwd to friendly banter. Really cool that two historic programs can meet in this atmosphere. FYI - my dad was at the citrus bowl between Peyton and Eddie. Claims his feet are still damp to this day.
Looking forward to this game. Funny story: several years ago I was in Knoxvile for Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt. Sitting behind us were some OSU fans who came to Neyland for the first time. They enjoyed the game, won by the Vols (of course). At one point they began to laugh when Vandy's mascot began prancing around the field; they said "He looks like the gay Michelin man". Nailed it, fellas. Can’t see this happening to be honest. The guy prob still has it in him (all his personal vices aside). I’m honestly hoping Day can make a deep playoff run because he’s a great recruiter and you never know if you’ll whiff on the next hire. He really has a Michigan problem though - guy needs to see a sports psychologist or something.
Good post. Best of luck in the game.
Some CC the clown from OU on this about how to introduce themselves to the board.

Caleb Downs is a stud and Lathan Ransom is great. Those are the two safeties. We rotate 4 CBs. All are talented but the two starters have played down this year. DI is good for a huge DPI on a third and long once a game and Denzel Burke who has started for 4 years has had a down year. Hurting his draft stock.OP ( or anyone realy)
How good is Ohio State's Secondary?
I think this is really where the game will be won, one way or the other. The strength of our team is the trenches. Our OL is decent to avg at pass protection but they're elite at run blocking. The DL is where it's at for us. We'll play 12 guys up front. It's some real life Dudes in that group and they play violent football. QB's have had trouble finishing games all year. We’ve lost 5 guys but no one significant (I guess the back up QB is, but we have 3 5 stars that will be sophomores next year).
The o line is a product of weaker than expected recruiting and then losing 2 top round talent guys definitely hurts.
The d line is great on paper. The two DTs are both NFL guys that can cause issues on the inside. JTT and Jack Sawyer are the two ends and are top 3 round pick guys. However, the d line can get ‘stale’ sometimes if we only blitz 4.
Jim Knowles can get creative and did against Indiana (large talent disparity there as well). Our defense is at its best when we’re rotating 8ish guys in on the line.
My biggest concern in this game is 1) o line not holding up 2) d line not getting pressure and allowing Nico to have some easy throws with all day in the pocket.
IMO DB play is dictated through the D-line, if you can’t get pressure a WR will eventually get open. Re-watch our Arkansas game we couldn’t get pressure and we got ate up.Caleb Downs is a stud and Lathan Ransom is great. Those are the two safeties. We rotate 4 CBs. All are talented but the two starters have played down this year. DI is good for a huge DPI on a third and long once a game and Denzel Burke who has started for 4 years has had a down year. Was supposed to be strength of team but the CBs have just not looked great.
In the spirit of sportsmanship I was trying to show that we can have good discussion about the game.A good post from the enemy, but I would not wish him luck in the game. They don't
need luck, they probably have the strongest roster in football. They just have to
find a way to motivate them. If that team plays up to their potential, they beat us 2 td's plus.
Hopefully you were wishing them bad luck (outside of injuries of course)
as strange as it is, you may not want to hit Nico early in a game if you can't keep up the pressure. it tends to wake him up/tick him off. it always seems like he starts playing faster and more naturally and stops trying to force things after he has been hit.My biggest concern in this game is 1) o line not holding up 2) d line not getting pressure and allowing Nico to have some easy throws with all day in the pocket.
Welcome to the boards. I too lived in NC for several years (Raleigh/Durham). All the OSU fans I've known over the years have been great fans. Our neighbors across the street are OSU fans. Should be a great game. I feel exactly the same about our recruiting/development at the O line. I don't think either team is going to have much success running. I think it success in both the run and passing game will come in spurts.Started the season with medium expectations. Was very good until our LT tore his ACL and they started shuffling around various guards and tackles and inserting them wherever. Had like 165 yards rushing vs Oregon prior to him going down in the 2Q.
Started gelling together again then the starting C (finalist for Remington like y’all’s) tore his Achilles.
Recruiting and development has been the weak link at the O line position.
I would be shocked if we tried to run up the middle vs yall after the Michigan game and seeing yalls studs. We have had mild
Success running outside mainly bc of Tre and Judkins who are both RBs that will play on Sunday.
I guess my questions would be game day activities. Are there any traditions that are a must see for someone's first time to the shoe? Any good tailgating spots that need to be hit?Vol Nation Community,

If you have (4) D line starters who are all NFL bound and yet you are concerned about not getting any pressure rushing those 4, then you will fit in nicely on VN as we are full of posters who think our entire roster are all leaving early to the draft! We’ve lost 5 guys but no one significant (I guess the back up QB is, but we have 3 5 stars that will be sophomores next year).
