Just taking a page out of Urbz book.
"When you fail miserably, just go to the hospital with a fever. Act like it's the end of the world so everyone forgets how much of a ****** failure you are."
In your case, better to stay quiet and have people think you a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
There is nothing wrong with what I suggest as a viable game plan for a particular game, against the right opponent.
He wouldn't have to "chew up" much. Convert a couple of third downs and take the punishment of those hits and he can take advantage of it.
DB's in the NFL are a lot better/smarter than in the college game, they don't cheat up and jump on fakes unless they are giving up big run plays for the most part. Tebow will not be a big play runner, full backs never are, and this is essentially what Tebow's running ability translates to in the NFL.
He looks to be a gimmick play qb in the league. A player you put in every know and then to throw the defenses off, these players are usually very dynamic runners with the ball, Tebow is a power guy without NFL speed, I just don't see it translating to the NFL game.
That makes no sense.
KB, I understand what you are saying and that makes some sense to me. You may be right, we'll just have to wait and see if someone takes a shot at making something work with Tebow.
In the meantime, thank you for presenting a cogent and well thought out argument as to why Tebow will not succeed in the NFL. Though I hope you are wrong, I acknowledge the rationale of what you are saying.
Your fellow Vols posters could learn a lot from you, not just about football, but how to conduct themselves in a manner that does not scream "I am going to knee-jerk react as anti everything about my rivals!"
... so many people rooting for someone to fail as much as I've seen the last two days with regard to Tebow. I mean, okay, he isn't prototypical under center drop back QB and his delivery is too slow. Maybe someone wants to run shotgun? Maybe he needs training for that scheme. Maybe his throwing motion is inefficient and needs work.
Tell you what: okay, he's terrible. No chance in the NFL.
It is sad that so many people are practically giddy that he's having a rough time. He's not done anything wrong other than beat a lot of teams (including yours) and for that people seem to be taking delight in this and I just think that's pathetic.
Let him succeed or fail, but don't stand there clapping if it doesn't work out for the guy.
If you dont like it get off the VOLnation board and get on the gator board. In case you didnt know, the gators are one of our biggest rivals and die hard fans typically dont cheer for their rival players, especially ones that have beat us, in the pros no matter if he is the 2nd coming of Jesus in Gainesville.
Other than his post-Ole Miss game speech, I really don't recall the guy having "speeches." Especially not for someone with as much media he has had.
I understand your lack of respect for his religious views. You've been consistent about that and I know where you are coming from.
We finally have a player less focused on NFL millions and more interested in playing the game with the enthusiasm we did when we were 12 years old. Enjoying him "making a fool of himself," as you put it, says a lot more about the absence of character in you than the absence of talent in him.
Get a better dictionary.
It's easy not to focus on NFL millions when you're not talented enough to make them. If you are naive or mentally deficient enough to buy Saint Timothy's act, have it. Me, I'm just hoping the goof gets drafted by someone who has a preseason game with Baltimore. That's the only time he's going to see the field and I really want to see Ray Ray or E Reed detonate that clown once before he permanently heads to The Phillipines to cut on young boys' genetalia.
Stewart wasn't great, but he did play for a while. I'm not old enough to remember Frazier, but Tebow is a much better passer than guys like Crouch. I don't think he'll be an elite QB, or even a good one, but there have been surprises. He'll get his chance at QB, and I'm interested to see it.Haven't we seen this game before with Eric Crouch, Tommie Frazier, Antwan Randle-El, Kordell Stewart, Brad Smith etc.?
He's a great college QB whose game doesn't translate to the NFL. He needs to find a new position, and fast.
We'll start rooting for Tebow's success when the Florida fans start cheering for Peyton, Clausen, Ainge etc.
