We finally have a player less focused on NFL millions and more interested in playing the game with the enthusiasm we did when we were 12 years old. .

Yes - Tebow is the only one in football bringing this attitude.

What a steaming pile.

Here's a deal, I'll root for Tebow to succeed but for you to fail for posting this tripe :)

and i'm not surprised that you can't see past the empty platitudes. you also think obama is smart.

You are actually the person I had most in mind when I started this thread. Even with regard to the post you refer to, the fellow was noting that Tebow's manner might be a little awkward because of his upbringing. Several of us, including Vols fans, have remarked that we think that might be a good insight.

You use it to insinuate he's stupid.

You really are a miserable wretch if you use that theory as a platform just to insult the guy one more time.

I didn't interpret the comment as an insult. rather that many who share the views that Tebow does, have a simpler view of how the world is (or should be) than the general masses. Doesn't make him bad nor stupid. Perhaps naive or ignorant. I have no doubt that he's a gifted athlete an all around good guy and a very smart person. I just don't see his skill set as being a good fit for the NFL in a QB position. If he does make it, kudos to him. If he doesn't, it won't be the media's fault it will be his own. And if he whines and points fingers it would make him the biggest hypocrite in recent memory. I don't know that he would, but he is a very emotional guy and doesn't accept failure well. Nobody wins and is successful at everything. Tebow is no exception. I hope he is able to make a good living doing something he enjoys, I just don't see him making it as an NFL QB.

Its not that I perceive myself as "better" as much as more intellectually honest.

So all Christians are stupid?

wow that's a great leap.

those christians that just puke back doctrine generally are stupid. i've had many intelligent conversations with christians on this board and in social settings. things that actually made me think about my own beliefs. tebow has never said anything even remotely interesting or insightful about religion.

Fair enough. I went back and reread and see where you are coming from and what you meant. My bad.

That said, there are some very stupid Christians out there.

But, in this case, FWIW, he is basically giving you 10-15 second soundbites or interviews with the press. Who knows what he would say in a conversation with you in person?

There are a great many people (not just Vol fans) that think Tebow's football prowess has been anywhere from somewhat to vastly overrated. Team accomplishments are just that and lots of people got extremely tired of hearing how good Tebow was as a singular talent. Some even used the phrase "best ever".

Look, Tebow isn't half the singularly talented football player Harvin was/is. Brandon Spikes for that matter, IMO anyway. And that's just on his own team. Listening to people gush about "best ever" can really grate on the nerves after awhile.

Seeing Tebow come up as looking a good deal less than the "best ever" doesn't have to be an attack on Tebow personally. It can damn sure vindicate what a lot of people have been saying all along though. I don't have to hate Tebow or even want him to fail to garner a small degree of satisfaction in observing how very human he is when not surrounded by such a favorable set of circumstances.

The "great" players would be great no matter where you put them. Barry Sanders/Peyton Manning/Joe Montana/Ray Lewis/etc would be demonstrably good at their position no matter where you put them. How many wins they got would matter in large part to how good their team was but their individual talent would be obvious. I don't think Tebow deserves to be considered a "great" anything other than perhaps competitor. He's got heart. Fine. I never saw anything that made me think he was a great football player. I constantly heard that he was. I got tired of it.

The problem with that observation is that Tebow at QB cannot be fairly compared to Harvin or Spikes. Their roles and the way they play the game are totally different. Harvin and Spikes might be better rawatheletes than Tebow, but I don't think it is accurate to say one is a "better" player than the other.

No more than it is to say that Eric Berry is a better football player than Peyton Manning.

Hate to say it, But I think he gets his shot at QB. Tampa being just the one of the teams that seem interested. The worst situation he could walk into. Is were he would be put in a position to have to start right away. Although I could see this happening as well.

I actually also beleive he will ultimately have success to some degree. As far as his belief system is concerned, what is more likely he changes the Teams culture or the team changes his? Three years from now i could see him being anything from a coke head to a Muslim....just saying.

There are 3 or 4 teams he could end up at that I could actually find myself routing for him (ouch that hurt to say). Either way it goes down he gets his shot......

I dunno. With the rash of recent (and not so recent) 'star' college QBs who've failed in the NFL, one would think a GM would be hesitant to take a chance on a fixer upper.

Who knows.

Disagree. Harvin is a better, well, pretty much anything than Tebow. Spikes is a better LB than Tebow is QB.

I touched on earlier but I'll try to clarify. Put Harvin on any team and he's one hell of a WR/athlete. Put Spikes on any team and he's one hell of a LB. Put Tebow on any team and...well...frankly I can't guarantee you anything.

I simply can't intellectually heap praise on somebody that positively reeks of "niche" player. The best can do it anywhere. I do not see that quality in Tebow.

Or I'd put him in for five consecutive third and short situations and have him run or hand off, and then on the sixth, have him fake the dive and wing it 40 yards downfield to wide open anybody.

And this is why people believe you know no sports.

DB's in the NFL only would only cheat up if the QB (Tebow) was chewing up yards on the run. I find it hard to believe Tebow could chew up yards like this in the NFL.

Yep. GENIUS. This worked for one half against the Colts last weekend. Think its going to work for an entire season, or even a game?

Your football knowledge is on par with Tebows biology.

Tebow is a very good college football player. He is not a very good college QB and the odds of him being anything more than a novelty QB in the NFL are about on par with me hitting the powerball. In the NFL you can't rely on your athletic ability alone, nor can you rely on the system to make you look better. NFL teams aren't going to change a scheme to fit one player, they draft players that fit their scheme. In college you can recruit athletes and use their natural gifts to your advantage. In the NFL, everybody is good.

Per ESPN:

Tebow is probably out of the Senior bowl. They are reporting that he was hospitalized for Strep throat and had a temperature of 103.

And this is why people believe you know no sports.

In your case, better to stay quiet and have people think you a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

There is nothing wrong with what I suggest as a viable game plan for a particular game, against the right opponent.

He wouldn't have to "chew up" much. Convert a couple of third downs and take the punishment of those hits and he can take advantage of it.

That makes no sense.

You know as much about football as Tebow knows about biology. Hopefully I wont have to explain this joke any further, or I am going to start to think you were home schooled by Tebows mom too.

You don't seriously think your Madden strategy is going to work in the NFL do you? Did you even watch the Jets/Colts game that I mentioned in my previous post? Yea, the Jets tried your plan, and got beat by 13 after leading by 11.
