I may get bashed for this but I'm risking it. I'm about to give up on Tennessee's basketball team.. I've been a huge fan and supporter of our basketball program my whole life but all the sudden, it just isn't as exciting as it used to be. I miss the energy our fans used to have before every game but now it's like they don't even care anymore. I miss the times when we used to win and upset good teams. I'm not a bandwagon fan cause I'm always going to be a VFL. I just miss the good old days when Tennessee basketball used to be exciting to watch but now, it's just heartbreaking to watch anymore. I just don't think it'll be the same ever again and I'm about to give up on Tennessee basketball. I'm trying my best to support Coach Martin and I still think he's a good coach but he needs to make some changes and fast before it's too late. Anyone else feel this way? Bash away.

Lol it's funny when people act like remaining a fan of a team shows character and determination. I'm doing it right now and I'm wearing boxers eating Doritos. It's not like I have to roll out and run wind sprints in order to wear UT gear.

I didn't say that..but it seems like everyday I get on here whether it's football or basketball there's a new thread about how so & so quit..

I think it is already to late. I hate to beat a dead horse but I really would try to get Pearl back. Man he pumped life into a BB program that was on life support for a long time and I think he could do it again

You've been a fan your "whole life" but now you're giving up? There's no way you've been a fan prior to the Pearl years, because these days aren't even as bad as the Buzz years.

So you're either about 21 or younger, or if you're older then you didn't follow UT basketball before Pearl.

I survived being a fan during the O'Neil and Peterson era's, this one is not nearly as bad.
Getting my basketball joys these days watching the locals getting unhinged with their team. Grew up with Ray Mears as my coach, now it is Cuonzo Martin. As frustrating as it can be at times, I'll always be a Vol.

He is a millennial that just doesn't understand life yet. You know the children we created
(mine included) that can not handle adversity. We have a bad coach period. So what do we do shut the program down? I was struck when I watched the Jones presser just how different his tone is from Martin. Martin is ducking the media like he is a wanted man, while Jones laid it all out. People like that approach not the turtle shell approach. Enough, as a former employer I can tell you Martin and I would have had a major sit down outlining expectations, responsibilities, and he would know this very second where he stood. I honestly do not believe his behavior tells me he wants to even be here. One final thought to the OP, grow up, life is full of ups and downs pal.

I, too, grew up with Ray Mears. I thought O'Neill brought us back from the cliff created by Houston. Somehow, after inheriting the worst collective talent possibly ever on a modern Vols team, O'Neill brought in elite recruiting classes and set the table up for Jerry Green (a very mediocre coach at best). O'Neill's problem was that he couldn't get along with the administration (or anyone else for that matter). But, the man could recruit and was an excellent coach. I even enjoyed all the technicals. Contrast that with the product we have now.

I've been a Vol basketball fan since the early days of Mears (Austin "Red" Robbins, Howard Bayne, etc). I've sen it all. I agree the effort was disappointing Wed night. Some of the young players are still feeling their way. I want Martin to succeed, (I haven't gone Dooley on him yet) but he's gotta show more energy himself. He turned the season around last yr when he showed some fire and supported Stokes with the refs. He can't wait too much longer.
