I hate the Alabama Crimson Tide... (edited for clarity on page 10/17)

It would be nice to win 212-0 but theres nothing quite like letting them lead the entire game and snatching one away from them in the end.

There is nothing in sports quite as nice as watching the downcast crimson helmets of Alabama players as they trudge dejectedly off the field.

Fayetteville weighing in, from The Border:
1. I know the Bite My A-- song too. He's right; it's all we could do during their 11-year run.
2. Someone up above called this game an "afterthought," in a backhanded credit to CPF. This game will NEVER be an afterthought. Florida is Florida. Tenn.-Ala IS college football at its greatest.
3. The original post is a classic, like The Night Before Christmas. Long may it light the hearts of Volunteers everywhere.

Good luck, Vols. Make us proud again.

We were traveling up through Alabama Tuesday, en route home from Fall Break at Seagrove. Up through the lovely villages of Florala, Opp, Luvurne, Highland Home on U.S. 331. It being Bama week, and since we were behind enemy lines, I was wearing my Orange polo with Power T. Stopped in at the Cracker Barrel in Prattville (just outside of Montgomery) once back on I-65.
At the checkout, the nice lady whispers: "I hope y'all beat the heck out of Bama Saturday. Good luck in Tuscaloosa!"

I enjoyed that more than the vegetable plate. :good!:

I think this, which I pulled from tidesports.com/forums, kinda sums up how this rivalry is viewed. I'm sure ya'll have your own document along these lines...enjoy.

(by an Alabama fan, with apologies to Mark Twain and his "War Prayer", from which this was plagarized)

O Lord, as our Crimson Soldiers, idol's of Dixie's heart, go forth unto battle, be with them, and be with us, as we also go forth from the peace of our high-definition sanctuaries unto the field of conflict to smite the lamentable Orange pestilence that doth soil thy creation. Help us to cripple their minions, bringing thunder and fire upon upon the pathetic hordes of their followers. Let us, Dear Lord, bring agonizing contusion upon the anterior cruciate ligaments of their offensive Volunteers, to separate the shoulders of their defenders, to pulverize the quadriceps of all who dare to oppose us, until they rise no more, hauled from the battlefield in a John Deere utility vehicle.

And let us, O Merciful Father, from whom all good and mercy originates, brutalize their Coach, to envelope and crush the beast under a wave of Crimson Steel, smashing his internal organs until the rancid tonnage of his gut spills onto the field into a congealing mass of semi-digested cream filled donuts, to so sicken and horrify the unwashed masses of the northern land, that they never again dare venture from the squalor of the Rocky Top wasteland.

We ask these blessings of thee, O Lord, in the name of peace and humble sportsmanship. Amen.
I don't think that's what most people have in mind when they hope for a great game and no one gets hurt...

I thought the last line about peace and a humble victory were kinda funny given the violent nature of the previous lines.

Very well put! As a true blue/orange AU fan, I can only say that ours is a shared hatred. I live in North Alabama, and have to put up with the aforementioned Bama fans who can not spell Tuscaloosa. I fondly refer to the to residents as Tuscaloosers. I truly hope that your beloved Vols beat the s*** out of Bama this weekend. I had to give 5 points to one of their fans this morning to get him to put his money where his mouth is. As cruel as it may seem to take money from the mentaly ill, I will savor collecting the $20 Monday morning.

GO VOLS!!! Hope to see you in Atlanta in December

:lolabove: Here's to your hopes.:hi::good!:

Ahhh...another history major. Would that 12 be coaches in the last decade? Number of wins the last 2 seasons? Or perhaps the combined SAT scores of your entire team?

This is why you gotta love college football: an Aubie and a Bammer arguing on a Vol Board, two days before the Ala-Tenn. game.

The NFL has some of the best athletes in the world, but college football has fun.

Sticks and stones Zut. I believe that it has been proven on the field who is better for the last 5 years.

GO VOLS!

Selectively quoting history, eh? Why don't you want to talk all-time? Or why not accomplishments of the programs? Who owns who outright?

Wow! Two four syllable words in one post from a Bama fan. Thank God for spell check, eh Zuter? But enough of the AU/Bama banter. Save it for next month.
Your team has to deal with a team that hung 30+ on Georgia in the first half. When Alabama beats a team with a winning record this year, then feel free to crow.

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is funny. :eek:lol:

It's going to be even more funny after we beat bama down Sat.

How many of your toes did you use to count to 4?
