I just read an article on ESPN.com talking about Carlos the drunk Dunlap. In the article they ask Meyer if it was a distraction for his team. His answer YES. I cant believe this guy. Then he went on to say that they would just have to fight threw it like they did the Flu. I think it is sad that he is already thinking of ways to get out of a possible loss to the Bammers. I mean Kiffin had to deal with something that was even more of a distraction, with the 2 kids holding up those people. It just blows my mind. Kiffin said no excuses, we have to go play everyone knows what is at stake. UT got blown out, but never did anyone on the team say it was because the incident. Meyer you should take one out of Kiffins book. Be strong, hold him accountable. A DUI is pretty bad. I think if UF makes it to the NC he shouldn't play. This will prolly turn out like when the UF player broke into the inpound lot to still his girlfriends car back 2 years ago or when the back up QB stole a 2,000 dollar laptop. I mean nothing will happen. Sorry to vent, but I hate Urban Meyer.:banghead2:

I hate Urban Meyer too, but Dunlap is a great player. Of COURSE it's a distraction. Just like it was a distraction for us to lose Nuke, Edwards, and Jackson, even if the coaches and players wouldn't say it.

There are many other reasons to dislike Urban Meyer.

Kiffin didn't say the arrests were not distractions. I'd say Dunlap getting arrested is a pretty big distraction and he'd be lying if he said otherwise.

The point I am making is Kiffin never used it as a way out of getting blown out by Ole Miss. Plus all the hype about all 22 players back for the D 1st and 2nd string, if that screws them maybe they arent as good as everyone thinks. Also UTLCA Kiffin did say before the Ole Miss game after a practice that they team was playing hard and this was not keeping them from showing up and practiceing hard durung the week. Even the players came out and said it wasn't on their minds. I think it is just hard to find a RB that is 5-8, that you can't find behind his O line.

Dunlap did something that I personally have done many times before. I just hope he learns from.......Dwayne Goodrich, Donte Stallworth, Leonard Little....I know I have.

For coach Urban Meyer. It is hard dealing with young men, we all here at VOLNATION know that.

How dare someone underestimate Urban the disciplinarian.

Ya, the laptop player never played or wore gator blue again and the tony joiner incident turns out like this:

Stan Forron told Florida Today that Joiner had actually talked to the dispatcher who was working early Tuesday morning and had made arrangements to pick up the car. The employee left to get some food and the gate to the company was left open. Joiner showed up to pay the $76 towing bill, waited for some time and got impatient and decided to go ahead and take the car and worry about the bill later.

But another employee noticed the car being removed and called the police. A worker at Watson's Towing told the Gainesville Police not to charge Joiner, that the company just wanted the money Joiner was supposed to pay. Instead, he was arrested.

it's okay for kiffin to wait for the facts following an arrest, but when meyer does it and it turns out to be nothing? well, an arrest is an arrest, right?

Question for the OP:

Kiffin has cited officiating, lack of player talent, injuries, player suspensions, etc. as impacting his team's performance. Those things do have an impact. So why if Kiffin talks about those things he's not making excuses, but if another coach does then he is making excuses and should be "hated" for it?

No, I think you hate him because he wins championships and has beaten Tennessee every year.

Because none of Kiffin's excuses involve the swine flu.

Duh.
