Based on the comments I see on this form, I'm about to lose my VN card...

I don't understand the hate directed at Kesling. I think he calls a good game and I like Pat adding color in the booth.

I heard a compilation of TD calls from the AL game. His calls were clear and I heard excitement. I'm a fan.

Go VOLS!

Because he's not particularly good at his job and Tennessee deserves a better audio representative of the action on the field. Tennessee is working to turn this back into an elite football program. It's time our radio announcing becomes elite again too. We're ready for some new blood on the radio!

you heard the best of the best calls from Bob and now think he's great? why not turn off the tv and just listen to him. About 1 game is all you need to see how bad he is. He should be painting me a picture of what's happening and he rarely gets it right.

I often listen to games on radio. Again, I think he does a good job. We could pick on a few calls but calling a game that has so many moving pieces live is difficult. They all make mistakes at times. I certainly don't want saaaaaaack!

I’ve heard that he’s the nicest guy you’d ever want to meet and I hate to pick on people who do their work w/ the best intentions. I think Bob’s issue is that he’s had 2 generational calls, UGA Hail Mary and this past week vs Bama, and he’s very underwhelming. This week on XM 84 they replayed his call and I think Ben Hartsock was unintentionally critical of him. He basically said how professional he was for maintaining his composure because he had no idea how any home town announcer would be able to keep it together in such a big moment.

I agree. The love for John Ward and his status as a legend and an icon meant that anyone who followed him was going to be judged unfavorably. But after all these years, I think fans just feel like they're supposed to be critical of him.

So I guess I'll have to turn in my VN card right along with you.

Ever notice how Bob and Bland start with the same letter?
Nothing is coincidental. We need a John Ward 2.0

Go VOLS

I guess it's just a matter of taste... how you want to hear the game called. I'm not a fan of Mike Keith's calls but many do I know.

I do hear plenty of excitement from Bob in the GA hail marry and AL TD calls. I guess not enough for some.

No comments in the color guy Pat? I like his timing and humor. Thoughts?

He's not that bad but he isn't that good either. He's just boring. Even the neutral TV commentators call Tennessee's big plays with more passion and excitement.

"What a turn of events" in response to the Dobbsnail Boot must go down as one of the lamest calls in football radio history.
I found this on YT. Take a look at the note...

It depends on your definition of excitement. Monotone Bob puts me to sleep when he's calling a game. Listen to Mike Keith or John Wilkerson call a game, that's an announcer calling a game with excitement

I am traveling/camping the entire florida coast and depend on Bob and Pat to make me feel I'm watching the game. I'm completely satisfied. Plus unlike tv announcers I don't have to listen to how somebody eats 12 hot dogs for breakfast while a Tennessee RB gains 12 yds on 3rd and 11.
