I was walking down the isle on the way to my seat and I pass Allan Houston, I thought that was strange. Then I see the Bruce. We crossed paths, I said a few short words about what a surprise it was seeing him here and how UK fans miss the rivalry. He was really nice, very kind, didnt seem stuck up like some coaches are. He even ended the conversation with "Thanks and its nice to see you"...like he's known me for years. I gotta admit, I wasnt a big Pearl fan until I saw his class tonight. I hope he gets back into coaching soon, I'll be pulling for him.

BTW----He was wearing blue :)

I met BP after the USC Game in Columbia last March. He was very nice. Actually met Phil Fulmer at the game as well. He was in the row behind me.

I met calipari in a strip club in Lexington one time, thought it was him at first but had to wait for the girl to get off his lap before I could be sure.

Martin is great, but he personality wise he is not in the same league as Pearl. I would have eaten the sanctions in basketball if we could have retained him as a coach. Honestly, if we wouldve known about OU, USC and Maimi and their future situations/outcomes, I am not sure we wouldve taken such drastic measures

I met Pitino at a restaurant in Lexington one night. He was having sex on the table next to mine. He went out of his way to ensure that he didn't block our waiter's access as he was bringing out our food. Super nice guy! :eek:lol:

Sadly enough, you may be a morally corrupt individual and lie about it, yet you are still allowed to mentor young student athletes-- and make millions while doing it. But, if you have have a recruit over for a family cookout and lie about it, you are effectively given the death sentence as far as having any future in the profession you love. BP was a decent man, good for basketball, and good for our program. It's a damn shame he made such a mistake and paid so dearly for it.

He has a 2 year show cause even if we kept him he wouldn't be allowed to coach 2 years, nevermind recruit and jones, Forbes and shay all had 1 year. Who do you suggest would have been coaching and recruiting?

I believe there would have been no restriction on him coaching. The show cause would have prevented him from recruiting in any capacity I believe.

Someone who knows for sure, correct or confirm?

Edit: After some research, the show-cause seems to only affect Pearl in the event he were hired at another institution. I don't believe the NCAA can force an institution to fire anyone. They can levy penalties that would make it impossible for him to succeed, but they have no authority to force the ousting of a coach.

You are right, I had it confused, but you're correct he could have stayed or could even be hired by someone else. however, if he is hired his punishment follows him to that school. As you said though itd have been impossible to succeed. Nobody could have recruited for a year basically, and pearl couldn't have for 3. There really was no choice, Tennessee had their hands tied. If they'd have kept him you set the program back probably almost 10 years, IMO it'd be close to the same effect as the death penalty.

Five years down the road, if Martin fails, there will be a faction of fans with the benefit of hindsight that will say we should have kept Pearl and taken the hit. If CCM succeeds, all is forgotten. Time will tell.

I'm not trolling, just haven't been in the basketball forum since he left...

What are the chances...of a girl like Bruce and a guy like Tennessee...ending up together (again)?
