Have you ever even picked up the Koran before? If you were even moderately educated about Islam, you'd find that it is just as peaceful (and open) as any other religion on this planet. Barring the radicals, muslims aren't any more threatening than a three-toed sloth.

thank you for the voice of reason

exactly, so it's really not so open and peaceful

The overwhelming majority of Muslims are open, loving and peaceful. There are whackos in every organized religion, especially Christianity. Please do not judge the typical Muslim solely off the people you see fighting against us in the war on terror. And please, I beg of you to pick up a Koran and educate yourself. The differences in a true Muslim and Christian are not that big.

People do it all the effing time. It's unfair to hold something against him that he had no control over. Don't you believe the church he's gone to for a long time would say "Hey, this guy was never baptized here" or something? C'mon.

This is not directly pointed at you, but I quoted you b/c your early points brought this question to my mind.

If he is a baptized Christian, if he has foregone any teachings or influence of the radical Muslim schools and father had tought him as a "KID", if he is so devout of a Christian that we shouldn't feel the need to ask ANY of these questions we are asking but you are saying we shouldn't, then why did he swear into his office on the Koran?

That's a very, very, very simple question.

Barack never attended any radical Muslim schools (especially a madrassa). Those allegations were debunked weeks ago.

If Obama's policies remained the same in each instance, would there be a material difference in his qualification to be president if he were Muslim as opposed to Christian?

No, he'd be just as unqualified to be President if he were actually a Muslim rather than a Christian. I hate to agree with Hillary Clinton about anything, but she's right when she says Obama's candidacy is less about issues than it is cult of personality.

If Barack wins the nomination, John McCain will not be President of the United States.

Not so sure about that. McCain is big among independents and Obama has 2 problems when wooing moderates: 1) He's about as far left as one can get; 2) He's going to have the "Tom Bradley Effect" working against him when people walk into a voting booth.

I don't really care if Obama is a full-blown Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim or Southern Baptist. The guy did, as 817 mentioned, swear into Senate on a Holy Koran. Say whatever else you will, but a Christian would not have gone there, EVER.

He is the most socialist candidate I have ever seen. He has never had a real function on this earth. He will be a completely embarrassing pacifist toward the Middle East because he clearly has a soft spot there, regardless of what anyone here tries to imply otherwise. In many ways, he's a slicker speaking, better looking Jimmy Carter.

I agree with the Jimmy Carter analogy . . . but we need to stop with the Obama/Koran stuff. If didn't happen.

Keith Ellison was sworn in on a Koran. Barack Obama used a Bible.

correct. I couldn't have been more wrong. Recalled the big story, but didn't do any homework. My apologies to all.
It's understandable to get this confused given the amount of complete BS that has circulated on the internet and e-mail about Obama. If you believe some of this stuff, Obama would take the oath of office wearing a turban and then suicide bomb the Capitol.

I don't know why people get so hung up on denigrating Obama personally when all you have to do to discredit him is go to his record or lack thereof.

With a very simple answer......he didn't.

I'm sure it's in Obama's best interest to keep this religious debate going. It keeps him our collective conscience, avoids his lack of experience at anything, takes focus off his Maoist voting history and he comes out of the conversation relatively stronger than he went in.

Where did Barack's family get all its money when he was a child?

How is it a positive if he does want to open up dialogue with radical muslims? They did their talking on 9/11, enough said.

I would also like to specifically ask his supporters, what policies and ideas he has are appealing to you?

LOL, I have a friend that has a Obama crush it seems, and I asked him about what he thinks Obama is going to do for the USA and he had that deer in headlights look. :eek:lol: All he could say is change.....

It's comical. Somehow "change" "hope" "action" and "get fired up" have become policy positions. It's like going to a debate and having a pep rally break out.

I would just like to say that, for the record, the Ann Coulter ad on the politics forum page is putting me on the verge of puking. I think that I will be significantly drawing down my politics forum time until that ad is finally replaced....I can't stand to look at her.
