I really don't mean to sound racist . . . .

I would also like to specifically ask his supporters, what policies and ideas he has are appealing to you?

His unwavering stance on the war, raising fuel-efficiency standards on American Cars, middle-class tax relief, improvement in mental care for veterans, I could go on for days. I agree with him on pretty much everything.

Not a supporter yet but
1. not mandating health care. (I dont mind the baby steps of insuring all children)
2. College assistance for those who are willing to work for it.
3. His ability to surround himself with people who are experts in their fields. (unlike loyalists, like Bush and Clinton)

His unwavering stance on the war,
Like in 2004 when he said he wasn't sure how he would have voted on the Iraq War Resolution and that his position wasn't very different from President Bush?

I must have missed that one, I have seen him speak out against the war since 2002, when I first heard the name.

I have heartburn with anything like this coming from a pure socialist like Obama. Tax relief implies that those shouldering much of the burden will be given relief, but in practice such garbage redefines middle class and simply provides tax relief / tax credits for those really not sharing significantly in the burden. I suspect the middle class will be limited to about $50K of household income.

I am certainly not claiming that selfishness is not one of my primary reasons for agreement. I am poor, I will be going back to school, any extra money I can get will be appreciated.

In case anyone wonders about my stake in mental care for veterans, I have a friend who suffers from PTSD, his wife complains that enough isn't being done to help him through it, so I put my stock in that.

Thank you for your answers.

What is his plan for leaving Iraq and fighting terrorism, specifically extremist groups?

Obama's plan for dealing with Islamofascism involves sitting down and having a heart to heart with Ahmadenijad of Iran. I'm sure Barack will use his brilliant skills as an orator to convince Mahmoud to end his support for Hezbollah.

Barack, "President Ahmadenijad, we can change, you can change. A year ago, I was just another senator, but I changed, and now I'm the President of the US. You can change too, you can move your people forward to a glorious future."

Mahmoud, "Your unibrow isn't as impressive as mine, infidel."

The only other question is where did his family get the money to send him to all those schools when he was young?

thank you for the voice of reason

The overwhelming majority of Muslims are open, loving and peaceful. There are whackos in every organized religion, especially Christianity. Please do not judge the typical Muslim solely off the people you see fighting against us in the war on terror. And please, I beg of you to pick up a Koran and educate yourself. The differences in a true Muslim and Christian are not that big.

I never said the majority of Muslims are radical, but 19 of them killed 3000+ Americans on 9-11

How is it a positive if he does want to open up dialogue with radical muslims? They did their talking on 9/11, enough said.

he hasnt suggested sitting down and having a nice chat with bin laden. far from it. the idea that he isnt against the radical muslims is also a fabrication.

Clinton, Obama in war of words over 'rogue leaders' - CNN.com
"The notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them -- which has been the guiding diplomatic principle of this administration -- is ridiculous."

Obama cited the diplomacy of late presidents John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, who engaged the Soviet Union even as he called it the "evil empire."
...
Charles Kupchan with the Council on Foreign Relations said that Obama and Clinton were essentially saying the same thing, which is that dialogue is important. "Talking face to face with a head of state, even if that state is a 'rogue' nation, doesn't mean that you give any ground," Kupchan said. "It is simply a way of opening the corridors of communication."

He noted that although the Bush administration took office vowing not to talk to North Korea or Iran, it reached a deal on North Korea's nuclear program through negotiations and now is sitting down with Iran to talk about the violence in Iraq.

"At the end of the day, history suggests that only if we talk to our adversaries do we resolve disputes," Kupchan said.

he is also not muslim, did not attend a madrassa, doesnt refuse to pledge alligience to the flag, didnt swear in on a quran (though as was pointed out, the swearing in on a bible is just a photo op anyway), anything else?

there are seriously policy disagreements one could have with him, but somehow i think if he is the democratic nominee these proven false claims are going to be the meat of attack ads. simply labeling him "socialist" and moving on is also a substance lacking attack.

who knows what damage it could do to him, but as of now he polls so well that he will be very difficult for mccain to beat. he puts states like CO, NM, IA likely back in the blue column, will compete in OH, FL, etc. plus opens up a traditionally red state like VA that is trending blue (will likely have 2 dem senators and dem gov come nov).

The point is, like somebody else mentioned, we have a right to ask him about what is more important in his heart, his Muslim upbringing or his grown up professed Christianity. If I'm considering who I should vote for as the leader of our country and the free world I feel like I can ask these questions without fear of recrimination. Do you have a problem with that?

Of course you can ask him? How is my point being missed? You can ask him, but you never know if his answer is truthful.

Thank you. If Gorbachev and Reagan/Bush hadn't talked in the late 80's/early 90's, planet Earth would probably be uninhabitable by now.

We're talking apples and oranges here. There is a huge difference between talking to the former Soviet Union and talking to every 3rd World nutjob that starts yelling about a weapons program. While Reagan was talking to Gorbachev, he was not talking to Qadafi, Ortega, etc.
