I retract my UK statements

UK is a basketball school, UT is a football school. Which one has numerous titles and is considered one of the best in the country.

I'd rather be awesome at something than mediocre at everything.

Congrats on being great at the sport the rest of the conference cares way less about, and royally sucking at the sport we all care about the most.

It's not just the SEC; it's most of the country.
Most sports fans seem to have football as their #1 sport. Basketball isn't always even #2 or #3 for a lot of people. It's my #2 as a spectator.
There are pockets where basketball is king, such as the states of KY, KS, IN, and NC, but this is a football country. There is a reason every major conference realignment has had everything to do with football and nothing to do with basketball, except for the "Catholic 7" leaving the Big East, and even that move came about as a result of the Big East making decisions based on football.

On a side note:

How much of that do you attribute to Basketball being a playoff (read tournament) sport? I wonder where this playoff road will lead Football to? You have to admit that for that brief period in March, basketball is hard to beat. But the rest of the year doesn't seem all great.

A playoff is only going to make football even more popular.

I have to disagree about basketball not being fun before March. I think people who say that simply aren't big basketball fans.

I completely disagree with anyone who thinks a college football playoff will be a bad thing. The suggestion that it will make the season less interesting is wrong. Very wrong.

Dang, UKVols, you're scaring me. Agreed with you on both points there.

Couldn't agree more with both statements.

I agree with both statements 100%.

A rival game? Thats funny. I think thats a little one sided. UT hates UK a LOTTTT more than the other way around. I can think of 20 teams I'd rather beat than UT. In fact, I dont even dislike UT. The fact that this board has a dozen UK fans should tell you something.

UK's basketball rivals are Louisville, Indiana, Duke, UNC and Kansas. Football, yes. Basketball, No. I dont want to compare records, titles and streaks to prove my point. Just relax and enjoy the day :)

Wow.

We have the most wins in the NATION since 1927. Yeah i guess thats mediocre and not one of the best in the NATION

Not to argue for Chili, but UK basketball has the most wins all-time.

Looks like he's gone for good anyway.

I didnt say UK basketball was bad, i understand your basketball tradition and respect that, just not some of you ignorant fans that just try to bash other teams. I mentioned that we have the most wins since 1927 to show that our football teams tradition is not mediocre like Chili is saying.

I just do not understand why a fan would go onto another schools message board looking to solely bash their team and university. Grow up Chili

I also want to point out for years UT had an AD that didn't give two craps about basketball. The man hired Wade Houston for crying out loud.
