He's going to allow dd to resign with some dignity so he can continue his career elsewhere. He's not going to be here anyway but he knows dd inherited a mess and it looks good on ut for future coaches. It's just a good pr move for ut and a way to save face with the coaching community. To keep it real, it's not dd fault he was hired for a job he is underqualified for.

I could buy this. But I also think that Hart may be using the time to let things play out to his advantage. The longer this thing goes the more that it looks like we are desperate in the end and will settle for a lesser coach.

I'll give you 5 million reasons why DD will not resign.....

I'll see your $5 mil and raise you 2 more yrs of probation as to why Hart Keeps Dooley. Chancellor Cheek has no nuevos to stand up for UT vs NCAA and no Coach wants to come in and clean this mess up with one arm behind his back. Dooley will be back next year in my opininion.

I think the Hart plan is that somebody had to coach the last two games so why not let Dooley. If by someway he wins both games then we can still make a decision to make a change at the end of the season. If he loses again well he totally fires himself and that will be totally undeniable by even the staunchest Dooley supporter.

Hart + Slick. Government + Intelligence. Words that just don't go together.

I don't think that is the case. I think Hart want to have an excuse for not hiring a big time coach or a coach who is incredibly unproven i.e Kirby Smart. I also don't think the coaches community would be terribly upset if Dooley is let go. Yes he adopted a bad situation but when you have his record how could anyone be upset. When you dismiss 5 players in a course of year instead of doing a better job managing players no one can be mad

I've never been a Dooley guy but even I think he deserves the 5 million. If former UT administration was dumb enough to write the contract its on them. Just proves Dooley is more of a lawyer then a coach.

Unfortunately, you may have just hit the nail squarely on the head. I hope you are wrong, but I'm afraid your assessment of the situation Kiffin and company left us in is accurate. How Kiffin remains a "hot commodity" in coaching is quite beyond me - with all the dirty laundry he seems to carry around with him.

Forgot about the 5 mill lol. Yeah dd negotiated that for himself to feel better after the firing. With the 2 year probation add i think he'll have to get a proven coach.but i still feel he'll try to let dd resign. but if not, he has to move forward. maybe he can negotiate the buyout down in exchange fot a little dignity.

No way!. Come on, would anybody?
GO VOLS!
He'll probably have to come off some just to avoid the threat of litigation. UTK could come up with all sorts of reasons to claim he violated a loyalty or morality clause and tie his buyout $ up in court for years. Whether there is any financial value in being able to say that you resigned versus got fired is a question that DD will have to answer for himself.

FWIW, the AD cannot afford to bring DD back. The overwhelming majority of fans and, more importantly, boosters expect a change. The 2 years thing is of almost no consequence.

If he wins out including bowl, he has a better than 50% chance coming back UNLESS Hart has a solid coach already committed.

After listening to some Hooker fellow on Erik Ainge show we may want to keep Dooley. Hooker claims that Hart and his crew are seriously considering Al Golden who's doing terrible at Miami. Go figure.

Vols will almost certainly win the next two games and go to a bowl. Dooley will not be back either way...Bammers can go back to thier own boards and whine about getting squeezed out of the national championship instead of coming on Vol sites to support Dooley.
