I see what Hart is doing. Very slick

If he wins out including bowl, he has a better than 50% chance coming back UNLESS Hart has a solid coach already committed.
I just don't buy it. There's too much inertia moving the opposite direction. 7-5 (3-5 SEC) it might have happened. Now, even the state run media guys out of Knoxville agree that Dooley is not coming back.

I'll see your $5 mil and raise you 2 more yrs of probation as to why Hart Keeps Dooley. Chancellor Cheek has no nuevos to stand up for UT vs NCAA and no Coach wants to come in and clean this mess up with one arm behind his back. Dooley will be back next year in my opininion.

He has already told the players he done. Wake jimmy

I could buy this. But I also think that Hart may be using the time to let things play out to his advantage. The longer this thing goes the more that it looks like we are desperate in the end and will settle for a lesser coach.

I do not believe the big $$$$ boosters at Tennessee is going for a lesser coach. I think they already have a guy in place just waiting for it to play out.

Laughable to think Dooley will return next season IMO. The fanbase blowback would be monetarily monumental. Then again, there is sufficient evidence in this country to support a "he inherited a mess and just needs more time" mantra.

He's going to allow dd to resign with some dignity so he can continue his career elsewhere. He's not going to be here anyway but he knows dd inherited a mess and it looks good on ut for future coaches. It's just a good pr move for ut and a way to save face with the coaching community. To keep it real, it's not dd fault he was hired for a job he is underqualified for.

5 Million will ease the sting of lost dignity. They say time heals all wounds, well time and 5 million works even better. I respectfully disagree OP that this is a plan in works.

We will know after the UK game if DD is coming back. You can go ahead and go on the warpath if he coaches the bowl assuming UT gets one.

If it happens then Hart's fate next year is superglued to Dooley's.

Dooley is a very bad coach: however, he is not an idiot and isn't about to walk away from 5 million dollars. He will be fired after we lose to Vandy tonight.

The difference is that in football we expect results, while in politics, good intentions are enough for far too many despite disastrous results.

Well lets see what happens after our game in Nashville tonight...if UT loses, I really don't see DD at the UK game...it will be season over if we lose tonight...what would be the point of keeping him on...pay him the 5M and move on...

If that happens, I'm jumping off of this one way plane ride to hell before it crashes...

Perhaps. We definetly are going to lose though. Vandy has played everybody that they lost to good.

Buy outs = reward for failure !  Coaches and employers need to learn that you don't get paid for getting your @$$ fired!

He'll say he's resigning but in reality he's being fired so he will get paid.

This. I think he will indeed resign. It will be a resignation that is forced and he will get buyout, like Fulmer did. Plenty of coaches "resign" when they are really fired, and they get buyouts.

Cojones is the Spanish word that would have fit the original statement, not huevos or nuevos.
Huevos, cojones, bolas, or pelotas are all acceptable Spanish slang . Nuevos was a mistake on the part of the original poster and I made a joke about it.

I don't know why anyone is even questioning whther or not Dools will get his 5 million. He is getting paid, people - it's in his contract. A contract is a legally binding document tht would hold up in any court n America unless he violated the terms of the contract. And unfortunately, "losing" is not a violation of the terms because no coach or agent would come close to agreeing to that kind of contract.
