Despite yesterday's results, I stand behind Rick Barnes 100%

Tennessee was leading the whole game and really we should have won. It's a fact that this team was missing open shots and that's not on the coach... it was a choke job by the team itself.

Tennessee had an amazing year and if we are going to ge realistic about it, when have we seen Tennessee basketball with this much constant success?

Yeah, we can get spoiled and try hiring a young rising coach and hope he pans out (Mike White was supposed to be that coach) or we could go after a veteran coach (Ben Howland) he was a total dud at MSU, but it wouldn't be smart to do so.

Rick Barnes has Tennessee going the right direction in every aspect and we will be even better next season. Hopefully we can add Julian Philips... imagine him playing with JJJ?!

It's in my personal belief that Barnes should have this job until he decides he wants to retire.

Best Tennessee Men's basketball coach ever

Bruce Pearl says hi.

Barnes has brought a lot of success to our program, but when it matters most it’s pretty much a given his team is going to falter to a lower seed. The guy hasn’t coached beyond a Sweet Sixteen game in 13 YEARS and he achieved the SS exactly ONCE over that same time span.

Barnes will keep us competitive in the SEC and that’s good enough for most folks here.

That’s what you want. No backsliding. Trend upward.
2020: No tourney and tied for 8th.
2021: Made the tourney and finished 4th.
2022: Won a game in the NCAAT and tied for second.

I don’t expect the results to improve next year over this year, but stay above the long term trend by doing better than 8th and no tourney. Might could even get that 9th Sweet 16 depending on who stays and who is added. Iowa State won 2 games a year ago and are in the SS.

So, if I’m understanding you. You would rather have Bruce represent UT than Coach Barnes?

Great showing by Coach Pearl and Auburn tonight. I know it must have been tough to watch for you.

I'll keep Rick Barnes just because he's kryptonite to Calipari and the big blue pussies. He has that much in common with the great Ray Mears and Don DeVoe. Bruce Pearl has never been able to make that claim.

Bruce does join them with a win in Lexington though.

Do you mean Pearl is the best UT coach ever? Nah. Barnes is.
Barnes does things the right way. He and his teams represent the university well. Pearl, not so much.

As you should. Great coach who runs the program with humility and class. It is hard to dislike the man.

Some of the fanbase however. . ..

😁

Hey now! We're a classy bunch.
We've all got our bad actors. I know it's difficult to believe but there have been instances of less than sparking behavior by some UK fans too.

You’ve got one sh-tty program when a coach that has never got you beyond the Sweet Sixteen in seven years is your best.

And he followed that up in the same year by losing in Knoxville to them. Bruce won 4 games against Kentucky in his 6 years that he was here in Knoxville. His resume also includes an embarrassing flameout in the SEC tournament finals against them in his 5th season here, IIRC. So that's a 4-9 record overall in his six years here.
