I haven't seen her do a half time interview the entire tournament. Say hello to a new lady Vols coach. Going to miss you Pat.

Pat can't coach anymore, can't interact with the media in any meaningful way, is a big unknown to potential recruits and their families, her illness WILL not improve... ever.

I guess you missed her weekly media sessions where she spent 20+ minutes interacting with the media in what was definitely a meaningful way. She also did her postgame radio show after every game.

I will never forget the first time I saw Coach Summitt when she came to my sons' high school to scout a 6ft player we had at the time. When she walked in, the atmosphere in the entire gym changed. Both children and adults surrounded her. Even the opposing team's supporters (from Kentucky) got in on the greetings--they knew her reputation, and she never waved a single person off. She took time to meet and greet every fan.

Coach Summitt is a lady full of poise and grace. And now she's working on the game plan for her own personal life with great determination to keep going. She will forever be the symbol of UT Lady Vol basketball and NCAA Women's basketball period. Her knowledge of the game has garnered her the accolades so proudly deserved over the years.

For those who say Coach has lost her recruiting ability, I respectfully disagree. Our Lady Vols are a good set of young ladies in their on right who has been coached by the Lady Summitt who could one day be playing in the WNBA. And on that note, Lookat Coach Summitt's contribution to the Pros-- (the most players from a single school). I'd say her recruting skills are quite good!

Tamika Catchings (Indiana Fever)
Michelle Snow (Chicago Sky)
Kara Lawson (Connecticut Sun)
Ashley Robinson (Seattle Storm)
Shyra Ely(Indiana Fever)
Sidney Spencer (New York Liberty)
Nicky Anosike (Washington Mystics)
Alexis Hornbuckle (Minnesota Lynx)
Candace Parker (Los Angeles Sparks)
Shannon Bobbitt (Indiana Fever)
Angie Bjorklund (Chicago Sky)
Shanna Zolman Crossley (sidelined due to surgery)

God bless the Summitt Family.
God bless Coach Summitt!!!
You are a winner!!!!! :clapping::3083yourock::toast:

I would try for Goesterkors (sp) at Duke and maybe Staley before Caldwell. We need a proven winner. Caldwell might be great because of her UT ties and more, but her coaching resume is thin--four years of head-coach experience. I think Caldwell can recruit, but we need that and coaching chops. If we don't fix the coaching situation soon, then Geno and Ct. will have more title banners than we do--and that is the LAST thing PS would want.

Regardless of whether it's her last game or not as a "legend" at UT and Ladies basketball, she's the greatest!:salute: Thanks for the 1,098 memories Pat and all the 8 WNCAA Championships and the AWESOME players you sent to the WNBA among others! NO ONE will be able to replace a "legend." :eek:k:I say go outside the current coaching staff to find a new coach if she doesn't return. Who ever the new coach is needs to be able to recruit mationwide to get "great" players. There are good women basketball players within the state of Tennessee, but we need to recruit from NY, NJ, the west coast, south, midwest and northwest too! Best wishes to Pat and the Lady Vol staff. GO VOLS!

You don't follow women's basketball much, do you? Goestenkors just resigned from Texas, where she had coached for 5 years. She only won 1 NCAA Tournament game there. Not close to the success she had at Duke.

Cause maybe he/she hopes (whether far fetched or not) that Pat can remain healthy and continue doing something that she loves surrounded by people that love and support her. Regardless if she needs to leave or not for personal reasons, its her decision. Whether thats "wishing that on Pat, her family, her players, or the program" is of little consequence and completely her decision.

I don't like your tone saying, "wishing that on Pat, her family, her players, or the LV program"....Its like your saying she's a problem for the program and she just needs to go now...

It's not about what YOU like. You and your ilk in the fanbase need to realize this disease IS the cause for the downfall of the program. Pat just didn't get this disease last summer when she was diagnosed with it. She's had it for several years and it's likely it is the catalyst in the drop-off of the program. In all honesty, if it weren't for Candace Parker, the symptoms would have been noticable sooner. The first thing forgotten are details. Pat was always a stickler for details which is WHY this program rose above all others. Those closest to her BETTER be encouraging her to retire right now because in her right mind, it's what she would do. Those like you are selfish wanting her to remain on the sidelines where she will lose her dignity.

One important fact you should realize: this the University of Tennessee's basketball program. This isn't the University of Pat Summitt's program

Nice Day

even tho down 20 at one point, I just kept on watching. It was history in the making I suppose, Hall of Fame coach, most likely last game....etc

Kinda had the auora of watching a legend play/coach their last game/match....

Besides, you can really tell her health is diminishing. She spends more time on the bench, rather than pacing, she also wasnt interviewed after the game. Sign is on the wall people, so dont make rumors that it could happen......IT IS.

We have watched a Legend in her last game.

Nothing to hang your head about.....she's the best ever.

If it is go after Niki Caldwell (LSU),M. Mitchell (Kentucky) Carolyn Peck (ESPN) Please no Holly Warlick

I would say go after whoever is the best. I think Michell at KY should be chosen because he has given the KY women a real team with much less talent. What could he do with the talent that TN has? I'm not saying he is the best but I think you listed the 3 best candidates. A heckuva lot better than what we got out of them this year. I would be ok with Caldwell or Peck too. Outside of those I don't know who else we would look at.

I have a serious question and am not looking for a 'flameout.'

How much coaching did Pat really do this season, both in practice and in the games? I know from the games I watched, it looked as if she gave very little input. So, what about in practice, does anyone really know other than the players and coaches?

Probably one of the biggest D-bag posts I've ever seen on here.

Oh yeah, let's have an endless string of Pat's farewell games. Let's live on our past glories and talk of old times when things were right with the world.

Potential recruits will not share our love of the past. They will look to THEIR future not our past. Reality is often not pretty, but we must move forward ASAP. Without truly top notch incoming players, we will sink into a second tier program. Top notch players will not come here to play with two people coaching and Pat observing from the bench. No top shelf coach will come here, regardless of their personal love and respect for Pat, unless he/she is THE coach.

We either want a championship level program or we don't. If we do, then move forward and get on with it.
