I Think We Get Left OUT of Playoffs- Regardless

The only way the SEC gets 2 teams in the playoffs is if the loser of the Mich/OSU game gets blown out or it's a non-competitive game.

I think the committee will give the Big 10 the same benefit of the doubt that they gave the SEC last year. Bama was 11-1 but went to the SECCG and won, and UGA was undefeated going into the game but was #1 for most of the CFP rankings. The same can be said back in 2017, Bama did not play in the SEC title game but got in with UGA. Bama was beaten by an 11-1 Auburn who was beaten by an 11-1 UGA in the SEC title game. Our biggest wins come against teams with 2 losses and our remaining schedule does not have a top-20 team left. In other words, if Mich/OSU goes into their game undefeated and plays like they did last year where the winner won by less than 10, then the loser will get the same benefit of the doubt. Let's hope the Mich/OSU game is a blowout one way or the other. I think the 4th team will be either TCU or the PAC 12 winner with 0 or 1 loss. Also, we need TCU to slip up. Baylor did not look like a world-beater today. The playoff committee would like nothing more than to have teams representing 4 out of the 5 power conferences. It's all about the money. Take your emotions out of it. Do you think they will pick us over USC and risk losing the west coast or Texas/ Southwest viewership?

OSU (#3 Mich)
UGA (#7 LSU)
Mich (#2 OSU)
USC/TCU (USC would play #9 UCLA)

btw- I think TA&M will beat LSU- Jimbo will be playing for a lot.

I did not read any of this BS.

Why are there SO MANY people like you that are UT fans!!?

Just can't see Tennessee actually being successful! We were literally ranked #1 in the CFP just last week. Lost to the defending National Champions at their home field. They're now #1.
- Undefeated
- DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

We've beaten not 1 BUT 2!!! 2 CURRENT TOP 10 TEAMS.

And you really think with our exciting brand of football and 11-1 record with ALL THAT OTHER PREVIOUS STUFF MENTIONED, that we get put @ #5??!!

Just please SHUT UP ALREADY!!!

Y’all need to remember the loser of OSU/Mich is not going to play in their conference champ game. The loser is basically mimicking us exactly.

So then it comes down to resume. A 1-loss BIG 10, and a 1-loss SEC (us)… and which of those two has multiple Top 10 wins? It sure ain’t the Big 10 team.

Last time I’ll say this but neither of OSU or UMs strength of schedule is good enough. Who ever loses that game is out of the playoffs end of story.

All i am trying to say is that if OSU and Mich. go into their game undefeated and the loser only has one loss and the winner wins the conference, then both will get in. The same argument could have been made for us had we been more competitive in the UGA game.

That’s the most incorrect take you could have. The loser of that game is out of the top 4 period end of discussion. Neither team has the SOS to make your point sensible and the winner of their matchup would have 1 top 10 win vs the Vol’s 2.

The playoff picture looks like this to me:

Georgia is in. Even with a loss, I think they get in.

Ohio State for sure in if they win Big Ten. May still get in if they lose to Michigan if it's a good game.

Michigan must win out. Their strength of schedule is abysmal.

TCU must win out.

Tennessee is in the best spot of any one loss team. The resume is amazing. Wins over Bama and LSU, and that 27 point win over LSU in Baton Rouge is going to matter more than LSU fans seem to think. I'll explain below.

(Edited) USC, who must not lose another game.

LSU is a long shot. They point to 2020 aTm getting left out as a comparison to us. That was a 1 loss non conf champ losing a spot to other one loss teams in a weird year. 2016 Penn St/Ohio St is the situation they are ignoring. Penn St beat Ohio State and won the Big 10 and STILL got left behind for a team they beat. PSU got drilled by an in conference opponent and lost a OOC game to a team they should have beat. Sound familiar? Sorry Tigahs, unless you drill Georgia by 14 points + this isn't happening.

If Ohio State loses close to Michigan, I can see them still making the playoff.

Who is they? Hint the committee does not care about viewership... You need to keep it real and bone up on what you are stating.

They might should start caring about viewership.
They don't have to do so. That is not their job. Viewership will be fine and if they do their job then we will be in the CFP.

Quite obvious why you name yourself loservol because of your thought processes and what you are stating.

You do realize that the loser of that game also doesn't win their division? The loser of that game has at best one quality win, vs Penn State.

That a high scoring team like the Vols would bring in more viewers and make the playoffs more exciting to watch?

Here is what I would think could happen for the Final CFP.

1. Georgia 2. OSU/Michigan Winner 3. Tennessee 4. TCU.

I do think we would jump TCU.

I must have misunderstood your post

My opinion for what it's worth (which isn't much) tcu loses at some point , 2 loss pac12 champ out,
1. GA
2. OSU
3. TN
4. MICH

I dont think they repeat the regular season games, but what do I know

Michigan and Cincinnati both won conferences last year.

Both got blown out in semis. As wasted round.

Committee can't afford form over substance picks.

If they want the playoffs to really start catching on as must see TV, the games have to become more competitive. Teams like TCU ain't giving any of the other top 3 teams a competitive game this year.

Losses by Oregon. & UCLA tonight certainly helped us… as painful as it is, Bama winning helped us would love for tcu to lose to give some added certainty
