No, he's atleast half right and the rest is up for debate. And "you are wrong" isn't really much of a debate.

I believe he was referring to the Pearl will be gone in 2 years comment.

In which case he's right. The only way Pearl is gone in 2 years is if he decides he wants to leave and finds another job. He won't be forced out.

it's all i have to say....grow up

Grow up? Really? Because my statement was so offensive right? That's your way of defending yourself?

If that's all you have to say you shouldn't be posting on a message board. Back up your argument rather than posting "Yes", "no", "you're wrong", or "you're right"...

Ball control and PG play hasn't been nearly as disastrous as many experts and most on here predicted. A big man could do wonders for this team. A leader would do even more, but there are hundreds of instances of non guards being leaders.

I agree Bill but UT is in the same boat as memphis right now . No leader to make sure everyone is in the right place at the right time . I think Maze can be that guy , but he's going to have to be more assertive . jmo

Yeah I understand that - and I don't think he'd be gone either unless he fails to make the tournament these next few years and finish near the bottom of the SEC which won't happen.

But I think his stay here will be shorter than most may think.

Tennessee needs a big man desperately. The only problem is Bruce has yet to prove he can establish an effective half court offense. The needed big man will likely be useless if Pearl can't get them better in a half court set.

A big man isn't his game. What good does it do to have a big center if we still don't have anyone that can shoot with any consistency outside?

Sure, we could run a simple halfcourt offense and not try to press or run the court. Then we'd have the opposing defense collapse on our big man and double him and force him to kick it out to someone who won't hit the open three.

This team has people that can get it done. There are just too many that are new and need to get used to the style, the pace, and the schedule they're playing.

now i will say 'calm down'...Bruce will not be gone in 2 years. It's almost fact....I understand the Bill Self comment but where does hat come off with this comment of Bruce being gone?

Lol - because my post clearly proves I was upset or angry so I need to calm down. Anyway, back on topic - Hat says a lot of things - and more than likely it is right when it comes to basketball... who knows. I don't see him being gone in two years - but I see his seat starting to get really hot unless he changes his style of play completely and miraculously learns how to coach a good defense. Bruce has taken us to a whole new level - but his style of play will more than likely never take us to the next, next level that we would like to get to unless he grows a lot as a coach and quickly.

i'm just messing around...more than likely maybe, but this is a bold prediction. As long as we are getting the recruits he will be around. I would like to see him recruit defensive players or prove he can teach defense.

everything must come to an end...just not that soon:good!:

Several teams have been very successful in a fast paced offense with a big man. A big man can post up down low, get good points in the paint and open up better shots from behind the arc, something Chism and Prince could both benefit from. Also, having a big man clogs up the lanes on defense, something that would have slowed down KU's early run yesterday.

Pearl's previously experienced teams had the same struggles on defense and a half court offense that this new team has. I don't see it being any different in two years.

No way. We were 5 crappy minutes to start off the game away from beating Kansas at their place. This team is way too young. Next year I expect a season much like last year.

we played like crap all game and still had a chance. what does that tell you? look we have no offense, we run the flex and wait for someone to make a play. we did more w/ less talent the past few years. now that we have more talent we are doing less. why is that? youth is one part, coaching is the other. i like bruce, but i felt like i was watching the And1 mix tape tour yesterday. these guys have no basketball iq. i hope bruce can turn it around

If this team has no identity and no defense they will lose several road games.

Bill Self didn't coach some miraculous game yesterday. He played a game at home against a team that couldn't play defense in a wheel-chair league. Aldrich had his arms on ice after the game from standing under the goal and throwing down so many slam dunks.

Might be true, but he meant what he said and didn't misspeak.

If we can keep Fulmer around 10 years after his last SEC Championship then surely we can keep around a man that's never finished out of the top 2 of his final conference standings in his life.

I'm still skeptical of Bruce's style of play transitioning far in March, but I think unless Hamilton leaves he'll have tolerance for the man who built back what had been a graveyard in the SEC in basketball.

His really young and unranked team beat our not so young and ranked team. That doesn't speak to last year's national title.

We have essentially 4 freshman/newcomers playing significant time and Smith and Williams who have only been here 2 years.

How does that explain the 21 uncontested dunks? Or the infinite times Collins went 1 on 3 and flipped in some lame finger roll over guys with a foot on him?

I would say limited time in Pearl's system would contribute, but what you saw yesterday was a lack of effort and intensity. One team was there to run the other out of the gym, one team was there to feel out their opponent before they started playing.
