I'd Like To Thank Sean Miller For Proving My Point.

Hat, not that it will happen, but if UT were to target and land Sean Miller would you consider it a good hire? I've always thought he'd be a good fit here, but when he would've been a viable target at Xavier we weren't really in the market for a coach. Much harder to land him now.
Sean Miller is top notch.

It appears the delusional NC State fans are clamoring on hope that Miller will be their next coach. The reason being is Miller wanted the job in 2006 but was never approached by AD Lee Fowler.

I think they are trying to relive the worst coaching search in NCAA history back in 2006 when they hired Lowe.

Hat's point is that 'Zona's administration was committed to doing whatever it took to help him win there. Thus, the LONG run everyone is saying he had. UT is VERY capable of that too, with the right guy in here that the administration will back from Day 1. A tremendous backing from the administration is the only way a coach can go far here, i.e. Pearl. If Pearl hadn't been a complete idiot, in regards to staying in the gray area, he would still have a job and we probably wouldn't have sucked as bad this year. Everything happens for a reason, and I believe we will come out better on the backend, even without Pearl as our coach.
i agree with most things you say here but i also agree with hendovol the backend wording was a little strange.

Thank you. Just poking fun at the wording. No need to get sensitive.

At least I notice when ive got several heads up there.

The definition of several is a number more than 2 or 3 but not many. I think the more than 2 or 3 fits but the not many disqualifies this as being a good word in your sentence. Try again.

What makes you say we aren't going after marshall? He's one of the most realistic options at this point.

From everything I've seen or heard, Marshall is on the board only as a back-up if we don't get who we really want. I agree that he should be a serious candidate.

So who do you think is the coach we really want?

I wouldn't be surprised if he's not the number two option besides frank... Would think there is a very real chance he gets the job.

I think it is clear that Dixon would be top choice. Don't know that he will show serious interest.

If he's the back-up to Dixon (or even Frank), I think that counts as "going after." Being the backup to the unrealistic candidate that you give a call just to make sure means you're a pretty serious candidate.

Oh okay. I thought you were talking about candidates thay we had a good shot at. Dixon would be nice.

For everyone talking about what a long, dark road UT has ahead of them, Arizona was a bigger mess when Miller took over than Tennessee is now. It's taken him all of two years to return to the Elite Eight.

It's a simple equation. Commitment by the administration + Hiring the right guy=Big success.

Glad to see your positive outlook Hat. Now back to "hiring the right guy" and "commitment by admin." Not going to happen. As Thunder Thornton put it, we are handicapped with Hamilton as AD. Some former and current trustees are still red about the Fulmer fiasco. This problem has many angles. It's going to be awhile.

Not much different than UT. Pearl is UT's Lute Olson, sans the National Championship.

No, he's not. Pearl still had a lot of coaching to do before he was the equal of Ray Mears. Pearl would have had two teams qualify for the NCAA under the same format Ray Mears faced. That should put things into perspective for you

May have just been one team.
