Idaho, Moscow murders

The fact the surviving roommates didn’t do anything after all that makes no sense. They heard crying from roommates and ran into him while he was there, but didn’t check on the roommates or call police til hours later ?
This is what baffles me. Why would you not immediately shut and lock your door and call police to report an intruder?

Option 1: If you were drunk / high / whatever, and didn't want to call the police in on yourself.

Option 2: If five or six were living in the house, there were probably people coming going all the time. Bit of a party house.

At least two of them were still up at 4:00 am. One on TikTok. One calling for a DoorDash delivery. College kids keeping late hours, unlocked doors, catching rides home at 2:00 am, etc.

Scary stuff to think about, cause I have a senior who'll be in college this fall. She's staying in the dorm, and with a friend thankfully, but still makes you worry. There's a new documentary on Hulu about college murders that looks interesting, but I'm almost worried about watching. It'll probably make me worry more.

^^ Obviously. It was a house full of unrelated people living separate lives. That's perfectly normal for college students. They were up all night practically.

Yes. She just has to keep her guard up. I'm sure she knows. I do think dorms are safer.

Reading that affidavit reminded me a bit of the Gainesville serial killer in 1990ish era. As I recall, he mostly selected college kids living in apartments.

Which school is she going to?

I've got 3 girls, and I've fought with them/took them to self defense at some point over the years just to try to give them a little something to help them if ever needed. That doesn't mean they couldn't easily become a victim, but it wasn't just how to defend themselves physically, but keeping their guard up like you said. I've always tried teaching them situational awareness, even in a normally comfortable environment.

Stuff that actually happens "in" a dorm can be pretty scary but isn't particularly common. Tell her that if she's ever alone walking in or out, especially late, or basically anywhere sketchy to keep her f'ing eyes off the phone and no earbuds. The tik toks and jams can wait. A girl strolling through, say, an empty parking lot with her head down distracted is a prey animal.

Agree with that. I think anyone can make themselves vulnerable being too into their phone in public. I'm on mine now in the hospital waiting room, but still watching the room. I kinda think the lady in the corner thinks I'm checking her out though 🤣

Tell them, always aim for the nuts if she ever gets into a situation.

I have since they could walk, unfortunately they all went through a phase where they thought it was funny to kick mine 🤣. I'm not even joking, I bought a cup to wear when we'd train at home, cause I told them any openings at any time, take a shot. Nuts, nose, knees, top 3🤣. Throat and stomach (trying to knock the breath out) rounds up the top 5 . It probably sounds crazy, but I've worried about stuff since my first was born, and just always wanted them to have a fighting chance.

Probably because you are checking her out.

Sounds like a good father to me.

Heard crying, and someone saying it's ok, I'm helping you.

The dog barked.

Plus he was wearing a mask. How many people in college wear a mask?

The roommate is a POS. Probably not involved, but not a good human being.
I think that remains to be seen. I get it, but I can’t destroy her given the circumstances. That could definitely change, but I think she just lost it mentally. I think she could’ve been paralyzed by fear . Doesn’t mean you or I would’ve been, or any other person the same age, gender, etc…I just think she did. Like I said, that could definitely change.

Ehh, it would take a lot to sway me. I don't see any good in people for the most part.
