This list seems to be a lot of flavor of the moment. Byington, Jans, Kelsey are doing well right this moment but neither have proven long term success at a high level. Those seem like knee jerk candidates. Mike White? You can't be serious.
Otzelberger is the only one on that list that I'd consider.
I don’t think he has any desire to coach again. He has nothing left to prove at this point and his CBS gig is a lot less stressful. The chances are slim to none but I could see DW making an offer to Jay Wright.
However, he hates the current state of NIL and I don’t see him leaving a comfy job to deal with the drama that comes with it.
I don’t think TJO leaves for anything less than a blue blood. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up a candidate for UNC if Hubert doesn’t stop the bleeding in time this year and gets fired.Iowa State has had a long list of coveted coaches. They’ve all seemed to be very content staying in Ames if they don’t jump to the NBA.
Tim Floyd. Larry Eustachy. Fred Hoiberg. TJ Otzelberger might be the best one yet.
Nah, you won't like them because you seem to think we either land a proven high-major coach, or we return to Wade Houston days.Well, enlighten us with your suggestions. We eagerly await.........
Your top option in your first post is Mark Byington. How is he proven? If we hired him last year out of James Madison, there is no way you'd have been satisfied. 20 games later, he's at the top of your list.We need to get a proven coach, period, and we shouldn't be too choosy about it. Beard's stuff is several years in the past. As long as nothing further happens in his private life, then we shouldn't turn our nose up at hiring him. The bottom line is that without a proven coach were headed back to Buzz, Cuonzo, Tyndale, O'Neill, Houston irrelevance.

Mike White? Are you kidding me? For starters, he's not a good coach. Beyond that, Danny White is never going to hire his brother and be put in a position where he may have to fire his brother. Not even sure what the legal guardrails around that would be.
