If Bruce is let go... I want Tubby Smith

Basketball. I'm sure there are other things, but it is the only subject on which I have paid any attention to your thoughts.

Oddly, that last exclamation seems appropriate.

That was 20 years ago. He's a completely different coach now. He runs a slow walk it up the court offense, cant recruit, cant develop and doesnt have the drive he used to.

Yea, who wants a coach who in the past 20 years has won a national title, been to multiple Sweet 16s at multiple schools, and in the later years of his coaching career has turned doormat Minnesota into a Top 25 team.

I guess it says nothing that this "has been" coach can land more recruits from Memphis than the coach of the State's flagship university.

All of this while having a good reputation amongst his peers and having no NCAA infractions.

I live in Kentucky, and as much as the Kentucky blue bloods hated Tubby, the man run a clean program, and was an outstanding guy. With that aside, I vote to keep Coach Pearl, not sure whats going on with our program, but he will get it fixed.

Tubby Smith is the definition of mediocre. Just look what he did to the Kentucky program. He put them in a hole. Calipari is the ultimate coach for a place like Kentucky. He knows how to run that massive program. As much as I hate to say it, Kentucky is back on top and known as THE program of choice for the BEST recruits.

Tubby Smith couldn't keep Kentucky near the top. How would he do ANYTHING at a program like UT?

UT needs someone who can market and build. We will never really recruit like Kentucky. So, we need to build through other methods.

That's right. He only won a National Title, went to 4 elite eights, 2 sweet 16's, and won 7 conference titles in 10 years. That's a complete joke.

not a complete joke, but it wasn't enough....at kentucky. it would be a great 10 year run for you all. no offense, just like billy d winning 2 title when we were in the cellar and hasn't done **** since but no one's really saying anything.

tubby was in his prime @ uk with all the luxuries of the world afforded to him as far as resources and couldn't do it. idk how he would land any better recruits @ uk then he did ut. and for every rondo, morris (who i don't count cause he was 7 feet of sorry laziness), hayes, and prince there are 3 or 4 bobby perrys, jules camaras, sheray thomas, jared carters

If that's mediocre, I'd hate to think what that makes Bruce Pearl.

Oh, ok, since you don't get it, ask any Kentucky fan. He was mediocre. Hell, even analysts will tell you he underachieved at Kentucky. Keep in mind (ask a Kentucky fan), one championship and 0 final fours in 10 years isn't exactly achievement.

I suppose it's all relative. A program like Kentucky doesn't exactly see things the same way as our program would. We were elated with an elite 8. Kentucky can't even remember how many elite 8's they have. They can barely remember how many final 4's they have.

Tennessee needs someone who can build. Not a washed up coach who was rejected by the top program in the country.

Just telling it like it is.....I don't play the BS blinded by orange crap. Kentucky is the top program in the country. No need to dance around about it.

UT needs someone who can at least compete with that.

The departure was great for both parties. Tubby didn't fit in as well with Lexington and everyone wanted a coach who could recruit the biggest stars. Both Tubby and Kentucky have benefited from leaving each other. There's no way Tubby is close to being a mediocre coach.

I think your reliance on Kentucky fans to define words for you might be part of the problem.

I would also like to know which analysts have defined him as an underachiever.
