If Bruce is let go... I want Tubby Smith

I hate to disagree with a fellow Cat, but I agree with Nashville. From what Tubby walked into, to what he left....night and day. UK went from number 1 seeds in the NCAA with number 1 recruiting classes----to barely making the tourny and giving scholarships to project players and kids only San Jose State wanted.

I'd love a UK rival to hire Tubby.

I hate to do it too, but I'll have to lump you in with the rest of the blue goggled UK fan base that thinks the entire world revolves around Kentucky. The discussion isn't about what Tubby did at Kentucky, and in what shape he left Kentucky in, etc. The point at hand is whether or not, on a national level (not just lexington), Tubby Smith is a mediocre coach. If you take his X/O ability, his character, and mostly importantly his RESUME and compare it to his peers across the board, he sure as hell is not a mediocre coach.

Tubby Smith is no longer coaching Kentucky because he's drifted into mediocrity. There are a limited number of Kentucky fans who will try to argue his greatness. However, it's very limited. If he were so great, why is he coaching Minnesota? Seriously, again a freaking HOCKEY school.

Kentucky fans would LOVE for us to hire Smith.

Ha, far from blue goggled...I just have seen whats best for UK. Tubby wasnt, and isnt it. He needed us a lot more than UK needed him. If it wasnt for UK, and Pitino leaving him a stacked house, he wouldnt be wearing that title ring.

As for his mediocrity. It depends what your definition of it is in the coaching ranks. To have a program like Kansas, UNC, Duke or UK back you with unlimited resources and yet you continue to come up shorter and shorter every year....thats poor, thats below mediocre considering what you have. Thats like being sponsored by Nike, wearing $200 shoes and a kid beating me in the Boston Marathon thats wearing snow boots every year.

If he was a upper column coach, he'd have big time offers from programs that care about basketball. This topic on a UT board is the first I've ever seen it mentioned with any team thats remotely relevant.

I want Jeff Lebo, or rick majaris(We need another great pumpkin.) And jeff is justy like the best coach ever and his 23 years were not enough to turn auburn around.
