If Charlie Strong was white...

He would have a small member
He couldn't jump
He couldn't dance
He would sunburn faster
He would listen to country music
He would eat pate
He would chew Redman
He would drive a Prius

Yes. But he would have a brilliant mind.

In his best James Bond voice say, "The name's Strong, Charlie Strong" --- wait, he may already do that

Maybe he would gel his hair like John Calipari, and consistently pull a top 3 recruiting class

Man this is a tough question, at first I thought it would be easy, but dang...

Whether posters on here want to think its reality or not, there are people who would rather have a white coach than a black coach and vice versa. Let alone a black coach with a white wife. These people exist. You might not be one of them but they are out there and are fans of UT.

Why would you not want this guy as head coach? He was a D coordinator in the SEC for 10 years. Was a part of two national championship teams. Took a 4-8 football team to 10-2 in year 3. Solid recruiter. Defensive mind. How many coaches can we actually get who has a better resume? None with a SEC pedigree like his I can tell you that much. Pull the trigger make this guy our coach.

I don't think CCS is the answer at UT, but if he's hired I'll support him and hope for the best.

Honestly, I don't judge coaching candidates on black or white, just wins and losses. In that regard, Strong isn't anything thrilling.

Dambass comment here. His overall record does not reflect the job he has done there. It takes time to turn a program around. He has recruited very well there and has his team playing in a BCS game. He also recruited very well while at florida. Thats goos enough for me.

Nailed it.

I dont care if hes white, black, red, blue, purple, or neon yellow: I dont think a man with a 13-8 record in the BIG ****ING EAST should be Tennessee's head coach

he did go 10-2 in the big east in the last two years.....just saying

Wouldn't this be true of any school? There are some fans true. But it is a extremely small amount of people. I personality don't know any that gives a crap what color he is. It's a none issue.

The amount of anger in this thread is funny. I didn't say all of volnation yet this thread is blowing up with people proving they aren't racist.

You of all people dont have a single bit of room to criticize or comment on someone's character.

Would more people be happy if he's our new coach? I'm starting to think yes.

Guy was the DC (not some small position coach) at FL when they were kicking our ass, and kept getting promoted by CUM.

Went to Louisville and got them winning. Yeah, it's the big East. But he's 10-2 in his third year.

Part of me thinks he has recruits waiting, that he told to hold off, who are going to follow him if he leaves.

I also think he would do very well here and only needs a hot shot OC which UT will pay for.

Kinda having a hard time with the hate this guy is getting here.

And he's not a second tier coach for God's sake. He was the DC at FL and now has a 10-2 record in his 3rd year. Get a grip.
No I think the major reason people don't think he is a good choice is his recruiting class rankings each of his three years in Louisville.

You're telling people to get a grip? Of all people. You? After this nonsensical rambling about race? Really? Really??

He's second tier to the Holy Grail. They all are. Not debatable.

Fact is his recruiting hasn't been anything to write home about at Louisville and he's had one good year as a head coach.

In the end I don't think people care what color he is. How much support does this board have for Dan Mullen? Their track records are pretty even and gasp, he's white.

yall have to remember that's Lou---e-----vulle. Crappy history. historically not much as a team, and a crappy conference.

Recruiting kids to louevulle does not compare to recruiting kids to Knoxville/UT/SEC. that makes a difference.

It's not even a football school.

I don't think skin tone matters to VN, however, I do think it may have mattered in the past (and may still) to some of the big money boosters. One has to wonder if that was the reason that Muschump was chosen over him at FL. It may have had nothing to do with the admin's and fan's opine of him as a coach at FL, may have had to do with behind the scenes money.

I think he would do OK to well here and I also think that he would up our recruiting a notch. Wouldn't mind seeing him be the next UT coach.

UT = non most racist BCS school. What other school has a black basketball and football coach?

Man, back away from the coffee. It is a real question. I have seen posted on VN that Sumlin isn't here because of this. I have heard it said by many Barner fans that they didn't and don't want a black coach. It is still a real issue in the SEC, I just hope not here at UT!
