This is utter trash. I have mixed feelings about Strong because of his record and resume. His race plays literally no factor. I don't think anyone would be upset about Mike Tomlin, Lovie Smith, Kevin Sumlin, or Tony Dungy taking the head coaching job. Don't hire a man because of his ethnicity, or in spite of it. It's an outdated way of thinking and it's flat out wrong.

Bulls**t...Didn't help Croom, Didn't help Ty Willingham, Didn't help Jon Embree now did it?...It damn sure hasn't helped Strong, He's a horrible recruiter...Get it through your head, IT DOESN'T HELP IF THE COACH IS BLACK!!!!...Players will go where they have the best chance to win.

My guess is that if Charlie Strong was white he'd have about 1/10th the support that he appears to have now. Too many racist idiots in our fanbase assume that a black head coach = top 10 recruiting classes.

Strong has some big time people backing him up! Anybody want to guess who said those things about Strong?

="He's a great coach and a hard-working guy. He was always a very good recruiter in college, which I think is paramount if you're going to have success as a coach. I think he has all the right ingredients to be successful as a head coach."

=Ties to the SEC, strong recruiter

= spoke to a few guys on staff who worked with him and said this hire scares them more than any other they heard about us. This guy is going to be good.

Then riddle me this. How in the heck did DD get top 15 classes with your aurgement!!! Maybe because we are TN and that still means something. With CCS that will mean even more. I think he will do a great job!!!! Bring him on!!!

This doesn't need to be anywhere. Race as a factor in recruiting has a negligible effect at best. How'd that work out for Joker Phillips and Sylvester Croom? Players of color have no problem playing for old white guys named Saban and Miles. Players black, white, and everything in between want to play for a winner period.

I don't care what color he is. His record at a big east school doesn't give me a lot of excitement about the future in the SEC, if he indeed is hired at UT.
